Santos had to attack form the start because they needed to win if they wanted
to reach the final. They took control of the game created many opportinities and
only didn't get on the scoreboard earlier beacuse of some nice saves by
Cristante. In the 29th minute Borgetti was alone in the box and headed in the
corner kick. Vicente receive a past from Carmona he dribbbled down the
rigthside into the box were he cross the ball Cardozo who just tap in for the
equaliser. After the break Toluca play defensibly the tactic work because Santos
only created one scoring chance. On a breakaway play Vicente long past was
control by Cardozo who beat the keeper with a right angle shot. This is going
to be Toluca four final in five years. 

Toluca win 7-4  on aggregate. 


PUMAS				2-1			MORELIA

Morelia were just 90 minutes away from the final. They play far from their
best but it was enough. Pumas didn't even play many of the first team
players. A bad clearance by the keeper allow Lemos to volleyed the ball over
him. Bernal dove to save Franco header but failed to control the rebound
Bautista took advantage and tap in. In the second half Pumas scored another
goal this time Lopez shot was deflected off Gonzalez head into the net.
Morelia will face Toluca in the final.

Morelia win 5-2 on aggregate. 


1st Legs. 11-12 DECEMBER 2002

Ruiz dribbled down the rightside cut inside his defender and cross the ball to
Borgetti who headed in past Cristante. Four minutes later Romero brought Zinha
down in the box to awarded a penalty Cardozo took the spot kick and
converted. Later he scored his second of the game on a poweful header to put
Toluca ahead. Vicente made a pure class individual run that saw him finish with
a crossed shot. In the second half Johan cut the lead in half when headed in the
corner kick. Altamirano tie the game with another aheader this time courtesy of
Ruiz cross. Cuberas and Zinha scored insurances goal in a span of four minutes
to take a two goal lead into the 2nd leg. 


MORELIA			4-0			PUMAS

Morelia dominated the game from the start. They wanted to show that they
were the best team. Bautista opened the scoring after he chested  Noriega
cross and from a one time shot beat Bernal to the leftside. Gonzalez had one
great chance to equalised the game but his header was brilliant save by
Munoz. Saavedra and Bautista made a brilliant one-two combination that
saw Saavedra finish with a leftfooted shot. In injury time Alex addead a third
goal for Morelia after he dribbled past Bernal to just simple tap in with his
leftfoot. After the break Gonzalez long range shot hit the post. Bautista scored
his second of the game on a header. It's going to be difficult for Pumas to
overcome this score in the 2nd leg.
