Just seconds from the start Alex send a past to Bautista who was just outside
the box he dribbled once and let right angle shot past Cristante. At this point the
championship was going to be for Morelia because they were up 2-0. Toluca
started a remarkable comeback in the 34th minute with a rightfooted crossed
shot from Carmona. Minutes from half time Munoz dove to his right to save
Garcia shot but failed to control the rebound Lopez simple tap in. After the
break Cardozo made it 3-1 when he headed in Vicente cross. Garcia finish the
cameback with a leftfooted shot past Munoz. Toluca is the 2002 Apertura
champions.
 
Toluca win 4-2 on aggregate.

The game started slow. They were only three scoring chances in the first half
but they were created because of defensive mistake. In the second half Vicente
had the best scoring chance of the match for Toluca he was one-on-one against
Munoz he beat him but not the crossbar. The only goal of the match came on
a powerful header from Saavedra. Morelia couled have score more but their
poorly finishing allow Toluca to stay alive for the 2nd leg.
