Patino opened the scoring with a brilliant first time shot to the lower right
corner. Ortiz shot when under the legs of the keeper to put Ameica ahead
by two. Lara sent a through ball to Mendoza who entered the box and beat
the keeper witha left-footed shot. Medina pulled down the cross he let if
bounce once and from a right angle lashed the ball into the net.


AMERICA win 6-2 on aggregate.

Marquez 54

Marquez shot when under the legs of the onrushing keeper into an open net.

PUMAS win 4-1 on aggregate.

Casina great header gave Santos the lead Ruiz dropped a ball in front of Mene
he let it bounce once and try to do a half-bycycle kick his shot was block by the
keeper but failed to control the rebound and Pajuelo tap in the loose ball into
the net.In the final minute of the game Lillinsgton tap in the rebound to sent
Santos to the semi-finals.


3-3 on aggregate. Santos pass to semi-finals because they were better place
in the league.

Ruiz sent a past to Sosa who beat the offside trap dribbled past the keeper to
scored for the only goal of the game.

Muller sent a header past to Emerson who enter the box dribbled past the and
sent a past back to Muller who tap in the ball. Alex got the equaliser for Morelia
after his right-footed shot beat the kepper.Lopez put Pumas ahead from a
brilliant left-footed shot to the left of the keeper, he scored his second of the
game on a similar shot.

Zamorano gave America the lead after the tap in the cross. Castillo dribbled
past two defenders and sent a past to Villa who first time shot to the opposet
post beat the keeper. Medina cut the lead in half with a brilliant shot to the
left side no chance for the keeper to stop that shot. The keeper dove to save
Lapatin shot but failed to control the rebound the unmarked Hernandez
pounced on the loose ball into the net.


ATLAS				2-1			SANTOS

Santos were awarded a penalty after Ruiz trew himself over the keeper
Gutto to the penalty and scored. Calderon show his speed moving to the
left around the keeper to sent the ball into a empty net then later he
anticipate the keeper to scored a great header.


5 MAY 2002 - Quarter-Final Play-offs 2nd Legs

MORELIA			3-2			CRUZ AZUL

Just before half time Zepeda gave Cruz Azul the lead when he volleyed the ball
over the onrushing keeper into an open net. In the second half Cruz Azul
stretch their lead with a great hader from "el loco" Abreu. Iniguez cut the lead
in half with a great right-footed shot past the keeper. Five minutes later
Noriega equalised with a shot that when under the legs of the keeper.
Noriega scored his second of the game from the penalty spot.

Morelia win 5-3 on aggregate.


TIGERS				1-1			SANTOS
Thomaz 13						Altamirano 89

Olalde sent a through ball to Thomaz who entered the box and his left-footed
shot to the near post beat the keeper.Tigers blew many chances to stretch
their lead. Del Olmo hit the post twice, Gutto threw himself over the defender
to win a penalty but his weak peanlty was saved. Santos were awarded
another penalty after Rodriguez shot hit Oteo in the hand This time
Altamirano took the penalty and scored to sent Santos to the quarter finals.

3-3 on aggregate. Santos past to the quarter-finals on away goals.


2 MAY 2002 Quarter-Final Play-offs 1st Legs

CRUZ AZUL			1-2			MORELIA

Alex put Morelia ahead with a right-footed shot to the right upper corner
to beat the keeper. Eight minutes later Morales stretch Morelia lead when
his left-footed beat the keeper. In the second half Campos header beat the 
keeper but it hit the post. Abreu scored from the penalty spot to cut the lead
in half but it was to late.


SANTOS				2-2			TIGERS

Gallaga 40						Suazo 88

Santos took the lead from a corner Lillinsgton diving hader beat the kepper.
Tigers look for the equaliser and they founded when Olalde tap in the cross.
Minutes later Olalde wasted an easy chance to give Tigers the lead. Ruiz
Dropped a header pass in front of Gallaga who first time shot to the left beat
the keeper. In the final minutes Tigers were awarded a penalty when
Rodriguez handed the ball in the box Suazo took the penalty and scored.
