FIFA Sued Over International Duty Injury
Belgian club Charleroi are suing FIFA after Moroccan midfielder Abdelmajid Oulmers
was injured on international duty against Burkina Faso last November. Oulmers had
surgery on torn ankle ligaments and was out of action for eight months. During this
time Charleroi continued to pay his wages and are seeking full compensation from
FIFA. Charleroi have received the backing of G14, the body which represents Europe's
most powerful clubs who have long argued that national teams should pay the wages
of players when they are on international duty. Charleroi's lawyer claims FIFA is
breaking European Union trade laws by forcing clubs to release players for
international duty.

FIFA To Experiment With Goal-line Technology
FIFA President Sepp Bladder has said he will use the upcoming U-17 World
Championships to experiment with goal-line technology :
"We will definitely use the technology in Germany (WC2006) if the experiment
works. The International Board will attend that last week of the competition in Peru
in order to see how the system works. This goal-line technology is enough. Football
must keep its human face and must accept errors. If we start to make it too scientific
this game will lose its fascination."
Maldini Considering Future
"I thought about quitting when I renewed my contract a year ago. The thought is
there. It exists because I'm 37 years of age and sooner or later you have to quit.
I even thought about this year when I started training. I was hoping six weeks on
holiday would improve the situation, but in fact it has worsened. There are highs
and lows in which a lot of thoughts go through my head. The thing that allows me
to carry on is my body, which is still in good shape." - Paolo Maldini
Mourinho's Five Year Aim
"We (Chelsea) are not yet one of the big clubs in the world and we want to be. Now
I have a five-year contract (the aim) is to make Chelsea dominant in England. So
we need to win more titles. If for example in this time I can win three more
championships with Chelsea and one or two more cups, if we can get a table full of
trophies and one Champions League, I think the job is done." - Jose Mourinho
