Barca Duo Injured

Barcelona defender Belletti faces a minimum of four weeks out after picking up a
knee injury against Osasuna. Deco, who has been playing a broken finger, sustained
a small thigh muscle tear in the same match and should be back in three weeks.

Burley Quits

George Burley has quit as coach of Hearts following differences with owner Vladimir
Romanov. Under Burley Hearts stormed to the top of the table on the back of a
10 game unbeaten run.

Richardson Extends Contract

Kieran Richardson has signed a new four year contract with Manchester United.
The versatile 21 year old, who can play at left back and on the lest side of midfield
signed on his 21st birthday.

Abramovich Warns of 100 Year Plan

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich shows no signs of getting bored with the club,
as some suggested, and in his autobiography spoke of his determination to make
Chelsea the best club in the World :

"We aim to retain The Premiership and get to the Champions League final. In the
long term our strategy is to build the most successful football club in the world and
everything we have done so far is geared to this. I hope to carry this forward in the
true blue tradition of Chelsea but also build even stronger foundations to last us the
next 100 years."

"When I became involved with Chelsea, I had little idea how much joy and
excitement it would bring me. I can think of no more fitting tribute to our centenary
season than to enter it as the Premiership champions. That is like a dream come
true. It was 50 years since our previous title and everybody is working hard to

Real's Brazilian Duo Face Month On Sidelines

Real Madrid striker Ronaldo and midfielder Julio Baptista have been ruled out for a
month. Ronaldo twisted his ankle in a 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid. Baptista suffered
a partial tear of knee ligament in the clubs 4-1 thrashing of Rosenborg in last nights
Champions League match.

Cisse Cautioned For Punching Idiot

Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse was cautioned for hitting a 15 year old boy after he
approached the striker (who has filming an advert) before offering his hand to shake
then pulling it away and putting it up to his nose and twiddling his fingers.

Ziege Retires

Injury prone former Germany international Christian Ziege has announced his
retirement, aged 33, after failing to recover from an ankle injury he sustained last
May :

"There's no longer any sense in continuing. I'm finally happy that the wavering
between hope and disappointment, injury and convalescence is at an end. I was a
league champion in Germany and Italy, I won the UEFA Cup, the Euro, I played in
a World Cup final. I don't think you can win many more titles and do more in football."

Sporting Lisbon Coach Steps Down

Sporting Lisbon coach Jose Peseiro has resigned following their league defeat
against Sporting Academica. Last year's UEFA Cup finalists are currently in seventh
place in the Portuguese league.

Belgium Coach Sacked

The URBSFA (Belgian FA) have sacked Aime Anthuenis after his failure to earn
Belgium a place at next year's World Cup finals.

Referee Banned for Life

Edilson Pereira de Carvalho has been banned for life after a match fixing scandal
which saw the results of 11 matches he officiated this season annulled.
