Mourinho's Response to Carvalho
Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho wrote the following comments in the
program notes
to Chelsea's match against Arsenal in response to criticism from
Ricardo Carvalho
over his relegation to the bench :
"One of the many reasons why Chelsea were champions last season was
because
everybody thought about Chelsea and nobody had selfish feelings. When
after the
first Premiership game this season, not after 10 or 15 or 20 games,
when Ricardo
(Carvalho) doesn't respect the essence of the group, then he needs
time to learn
it. Maybe when you are reading this, maybe Riccy sitting in the stand,
not on the
bench or on the pitch, maybe he is also reading this, and maybe he
understands
now."

Steaua Fined for Cisse Abuse
UEFA have fined Steaua Bucharest 19,500 after Liverpool striker
Djibril Cisse was
subjected to racist abuse (monkey chants) during the clubs Champions
League
qualifier earlier this month.
CSKA Sofia were also fined after their supporters directed monkey
chants at
Shelbourne player Ndo Joseph during another Champions League
qualifier.
Robben Hits Out At Rotation Policy
"If you play two or three matches and one match is bad, you are
immediately on
the bench and that's not good. It's bad for a player's self-confidence
because you
can't get a rhythm. The problem now is that if you have a dip in form
or play badly
then you are immediately replaced. I believe we should build the team
round a
fixed group and if the policy is to be continuous substitution then I
don't like it.
I don't know how the manager thinks but I don't like that system." -
Arjen Robben

capacity
safety requirements. The stadium is 5,000 short of the 15,000 minimum
capacity
and barriers need to be installed to segregate rival fans. Treviso
