CBF Press Conference On Monday

The CBF (Brazilian FA) will hold a press conference this coming Monday. They
are expected to announce the appointment of 'Big Phil' Luis Felipe Scolari as
national team coach.

Big Phil To Replace Luxemburgo?

The Brazilian press claim current national coach Wanderley Luxemburgo will
get the sack and be replaced by Luis Felipe Scolari also know as Big Phil.
Luxemburgo is under pressure following miserable displays by Brazil in World
Cup qualifiers and their failure to win Gold at the Olympics. Scolari has
enjoyed tremendous success at club level in Brazil guiding Gremio and
Palmeiras to numerous honours.

Anyone Want Petit?

According to the Spanish press Barca are trying to get rid of Emmanuel Petit
and have approached Roma and Fiorentina. Petit has been a disaster at Barca,
played out of position in central defence instead of his favoured central
midfield role.

Zoff Gets Job At Lazio

Dino Zoff has been appointed vice president of Lazio. It's probably one of those
jobs without responsibility deals that clubs do as a gesture of good will to
former stars.

Collymore Has Another Collywobble

Leicester have transfer listed Stan Collymore after the player demanded a wage
increase and complained about being benched.

Ehiogu Waits For Ruling

After Aston Villa had agreed a fee of £8 million with Middlesbrough for Ugo
Ehiogu the player turned down a move to the Riverside because his agent
claims he will for the outcome of the transfer proposals due to be
submitted by FIFA to the European Commission on the 31st of October.

More Interest In Biscan

Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a move for Croatia Zagreb
midfielder Igor Biscan.

Vehicle Abuse

Roma supporters damaged player cares at the clubs training ground following
the teams shock Italian Cup defeat against Atalanta. Roma coach Capello
didn't condone the actions of the fans "Of course they should be angry with
this performance. It was hard to imagine that we would concede four goals

Ferguson Turned Down Zidane

Alex Ferguson has claimed Man United were interested in signing Zidane while
he was still relatively unknown at Bordeaux - "When we watched him at the
time I was looking for someone to operate wide right before young David
(Beckham) emerged.".

Campbell (DF, Tottenham) - out for four weeks with dislocated shoulder
Duberry (DF, Leeds) - out for three months with achilles injury
Stam (DF, Man United) - out for three months with achilles injury

FIFA Call For Meeting

FIFA have invited national federations to hold talks over changes to the transfer
system on the 6th of October. FIFA have until the 31st of October to submit
their proposals to the European Commission.

Ranieri Wants The Other Lopez

New Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri has targeted Celta Vigo's Argentinean
winger Gustavo Lopez as his first signing. 

Robbo Renews Interest In Ehiogu

Middlesbrough are prepared to pay £8 million pounds for Aston Villa's want
away defender Ugo Ehiogu in a bid to solve their shameful defensive problems.

Jupp Heynckes has had his contract as coach of Benfica terminated. Assistant
coach Jose Mourinho takes over.

And it's Udinese again. This time Uruguayan defender Alejandro Da Silva was
found to have a fake Portuguese passport.

Newcastle Pay £2.25 For Division Two Player

Newcastle have signed Colchester's teenage striker Lomana Lua Lua for £2.25
million.

Parmalat Transfer More Players To Parma

Defenders Arce and Argel are the latest players to be transferred from Parma
to Palmeiras. Parmalat own both clubs and have in recent seasons transferred
the best talent from Palmeiras to Parma. No idea if both players will be included
in the squad or more likely sent on loan.

Warley Loaned To Gremio

Udinese's Brazilian forward and dodgy passport holder Warley will go on loan
to Gremio.

Chelsea Still Want Savio

Despite the sacking of Vialli Chelsea are still negotiating with Real Madrid
over the transfer of Savio. Real Madrid are believed to want £9 million for
the player but Chelsea are offering less as Savio is not eligible to play in
the UEFA Cup having already played for Real in the Champions League.

Milan Take A Look At Hoseth

Milan are interested in Molde midfielder/attacker Magne Hoseth. Manchester
City are also interested in signing the 19 year old.

Former Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid coach Claudio Ranieri has signed a three
year contract with Chelsea.

More Dodgy Passports

Udinese's Brazilian players Warley and Alberto had their fake Portuguese
passports confiscated before Udinese's UEFA Cup match in Poland. The players
will no longer be considered European Union citizens. Serie A clubs can only
field three non EU players during a match. Lazio playmaker Juan Sebastian
Veron lost his status as a EU players because the club could not prove he had
Italian grandparents.

Maradona Survives Car Crash

Maradona was involved in a traffic accident in Cuba yesterday. His jeep collided
with a tourist bus but no one was seriously hurt.

Fabio Aurelio Hijacked

Valencia have signed Fabio Aurelio from Sao Paulo. The player was expected
to join Napoli.
