ROSTOCK 0-0 COTTBUS
Thielemann caused a stupid penalty by handballing without any pressure,
Piplica made up for his mistake by saving the spot kick from Lange.
Helbig was sent off for seemingly by accident kicking Oswald which got
him his 2nd booking. Piplica then saved Energie a point with lots of
good saves.
22-year-old Italian striker Antonio Di Salvo, who joined Rostock from
Bayern had an excellent game for Hansa, as did 'keeper Schober. Also
considering the former GDR "Oberliga", this was the 1st point Cottbus
has won at the Ostseestadion in 10 encounters. Energie is only worth
half as much without the injured key midfielder Kaluzny though.
Red Card : Helbig 57 (Cottbus)
Attendance : 21,500
HERTHA 2-1 1860 MÜNCHEN
Tapalovic 59 (og) Agostino 45
Preetz 79
Hertha should have been awarded a penalty when Pfuderer pulled down
Preetz in the box. It were The Lions who went ahead via Agostino from
Häßler's through pass though. Tapalovic deflected Deisler's free kick
into his own net. Preetz (!) headed in the game-winner from another
Deisler free kick. Dheedene was sent off for 2 yellow cards within 16
minutes! Alex Alves joined him under the shower 8 minutes later for
following up on Riseth who also received his marching orders after
pushing the Brasilian with no ball involved.
Assists : Häßler, Deisler (x2)
Red Cards : Dheedene 80 and Riseth 88 (1860), Alex Alves 88 (Hertha)
Attendance : 25,000
15 SEPTEMBER 2001
LEVERKUSEN 3-1 ST. PAULI
Ballack 44 Rath 79
Kirsten 60
Schneider 80
Ballack nodded in Zé Roberto's cross. St. Pauli didn't manage a single
shot on goal in the first half, a feat unmatched this season so far!
Kirsten made it 2-0 at the brink of the hour with another header, this
time from a "Zé" free kick. Ballack was sent off for his 2nd bookable
offence, a bone-crunching tackle from behind on Kolinger, Bayer down to
10 men for the last 30 minutes. Multiple reject Marcel Rath deflected
playmaker Meggle's shot into the net to pull one back for the visitors.
Leverkusen instantly replied: Bastürk sent Schneider on a 1-man counter
attack, he remained cool and beat Bulat with a low, well-placed shot.
Assists : Zé Roberto (x2), Meggle, Bastürk
Red Card : Ballack 61 (Leverkusen)
Attendance : 21,000
SCHALKE 1-0 DORTMUND
Möller 17
Emile Mpenza, only 1,77m but equipped with one of the highest vertical
leaps in the league, knocked Böhme's huge 40 meter punt into Möller who
engaged his turbo, sent his old teammate Kohler crashing onto his arse
before firing past Lehmann for an ultra-rare goal in "Königsblau". Andy
Möller of all people the Borussia fans must have thought! Wörns had a
regular goal disallowed for offside. Vermant struck the post after a
World Class disguised pass from Möller.
Amoroso had the best chance for yellow & black when he hit the woodwork
as well after good work from Koller. Stevic, even though being the BVB's
best on the afternoon, attempted half a dozen ridiculous long distance
shots. Overall the game was brutal and Dortmund didn't have a prayer of
taking any points from it. Positive note: Heiko Herrlich made his come-
back after having a brain tumor removed and 10 months of recovery.
Assist : Mpenza
Attendance : 60,204 (sold out)
NÜRNBERG 0-2 KAISERSLAUTERN
Lincoln 67
Klos 73
Ramzy smashed against the crossbar. Frey was very lucky to escpape with
a yellow card after clipping Lokvenc from behind. Lokvenc, otherwise the
man for the dirty work in the box, uncharacteristically smooth clobbered
Kos on the wing and his centre found genius Lincoln at the far post who
had a field day tapping in. Klos headed in Lincoln's corner to put the
game out of reach.
Assists : Lokvenc, Lincoln
Attendance : 30,000
BREMEN 1-1 KÖLN
Aílton 68 Lottner 15
Werder who does not have a shirt sponsor had "Keine Macht dem Terror"
(give terror no force) on their otherwise blank breast. Lottner scored
with a free kick from 25+ meters, Cullmann and Bode had distracted
'keeper Rost who doesn't seem 100% motivated anymore now that his move
to Schalke next season is a done deal. Werder equalized with a beauty
of a goal: Klasnic bounced Baumann's free kick off his chest to Tjikuzu,
Rashi cruised into the box and centred for Aílton who tapped in at the
near post. Köln were the better side, Werder is without victory in the
past 4 games.
Assists : Baranek, Tjikuzu
Attendance : 26,718
HAMBURG 3-3 MÖNCHENGLADBACH
Benjamin 14 Münch 21
Albertz 17 (Pen), 90 Van Houdt 56
Mieciel 90
Youngster Benjamin ran onto Groth's long punt upfield, brushed Witeczek
aside like an annoying bluebottle and rounded Stiel before tapping into
an empty net. Albertz won a penalty and converted himself. Tøfting
pushed Korzynietz on the edge of the box, Münch drilled the resulting
free kick through the wall full of holes and centrally into the net.
Van Houdt tapped in Münch's centre as the HSV tried to set up some kind
of offside trap. Albertz swung in Pletsch's short clearance with a huge
stroke in the very last minute but new Gladbach signing Mieciel had the
last say with a beautiful scissor kick to earn The Foals a well-deserved
point.
Assists : Groth, Albertz, Korzynietz, Münch, Van Lent
Attendance : 54,092
BAYERN MÜNCHEN 1-0 FREIBURG
Élber 89
Jancker flicked onto Robert Kovac's awesome 50m pass and Élber lobbed
the ball over the advancing Golz for the lone goal of the afternoon.
He celebrated his goal appropriately by forming a dove of peace with
his hands.
Assist : Jancker
Attendance : 46,000
WOLFSBURG 0-2 STUTTGART
Seitz 8
Balakov 65 (Pen)
Biliskov deflected Seitz' sunday shot, his *1st* shot of the season (!),
unstoppably for Reitmaier into the net. Seitz also won the penalty which
Balakov, as usual, coolly dispatched.
Assists : Meißner, Seitz
Attendance : 12,476
