21 APRIL 2002
FREIBURG 3-1 KAISERSLAUTERN
Kobiashvili 47 (Pen) Klose 84 (Pen)
Sellimi 78
Männer 81
Inspirational captain Kobiashvili scored from the penalty spot after
being hit by a late Ramzy tackle. Sellimi fired in Ramdane's cross
after a great counter attack via Männer and Ramdane. Männer ended
the nail-biting poking in from close range following a But free kick.
Miro Klose scored the consolation penalty awarded for a "handball" by
Tskitishvili.
Freiburg pulled themselves out of the deepest trouble and put the
Club under huge pressure with 3 vital points which shortened the gap
between the two clubs to just ONE point!
Assists: Kobiashvili, Ramdane (x2)
Attendance: 25,000 (sold out)
MÖNCHENGLADBACH 2-2 STUTTGART
Van Houdt 68 Balakov 48
Auer 80 Dundee 84
Balakov swapped passes with Seitz before booting one past Gladbach's
3rd 'keeper Melka. Balakov curled another shot against the left post,
should rather have scored that one though. Adhemar shot high over the
bar one-on-one with the keeper. Van Houdt volleyed home the equalizer
from Kluge's cross. Auer knocked a high Münch cross into Mieciel, he
backheeled it back to Germany's future N°9 to score his first ever
Bundesliga goal after he already had half a dozen great chances in
the first half. Dundee spoiled the party poking in at the far post
after Meißner flicked on Balakov's cross.
Assists: Seitz, Kluge, Mieciel, Meißner
Attendance: 28,805
20 APRIL 2002
LEVERKUSEN 1-2 BREMEN
Zé Roberto 31 Lisztes 5
Aílton 61
Lisztes fired Werder into the surprise lead with a spectacular floating
shot from 25 meters out. At first it looked like Butt couldn't get to it
because he was poorly positioned but then it was so perfectly struck,
few keepers would've gotten to it. A strong candidate for goal of the
month! Bastürk dribbled 2 defenders and cut the ball back to the middle
where Zé Roberto lost his marker and tapped in the equalizer.
It was a club record 75th goal of the season!
Ballack went down in the box as struck by lightning after a love tap by
Skripnik, ref Berg dreamt up a penalty which Rost deservedly saved from
his rival for the 3rd spot on Germany's national team Butt. Aílton
scored the game-winner from man of the match Frings' perfectly cushioned
header.
Awesome match with plenty of chances and plenty of penaly box action.
Easily Werder's best display of the season! Bremen has the best record
of all teams in comparision with the Top 3 (two wins against Leverkusen,
win and draw against Bayern and draw against Dortmund).
Assists: Skripnik, Bastürk, Frings
Attendance: 22,500 (sold out)
DORTMUND 2-1 KÖLN
Rosický 21 Lottner 56
Amoroso 89 (Pen)
Rosický hammered Dortmund into the lead with a well-placed shot from
just outside the area. Amoroso blazed over the bar after a huge through
pass from Wörns who had injections to get fit for this match. Cullmann
fired against the crossbar from Lottner's free kick. Köln fooled the
BVB on a short corner 10 minutes into the 2nd half and Lottner was wide
open to curl the equalizer into the far corner. Kohler was awarded a
penalty for pulling down Reeb (!), a mistake by the ref as blatant as
I have ever seen in 8 years of following football, Amoroso did not give
a f**k and converted the penalty to shorten the gap on Leverkusen to a
mere two points.
Assists: Metzelder, Voigt, Kohler
Attendance: 68,600 (sold out)
BAYERN MÜNCHEN 3-0 HERTHA
Hartmann 67 (og)
Élber 82
Pizarro 83
Balanced game for half an hour until Van Burik was harshly sent off for
dissent over a non-foul on Élber. Hertha withstood the pressure well for
another 30 minutes but then Hartmann turned Scholl's corner into his own
net. Élber made it 2-0 after nice build-up play from Salihamidzic and
Santa Cruz before Pizarro secured a very important victory by playing a
little give-and-go with Brazzo.
Assists: Scholl, Santa Cruz, Salihamidzic
Red Card: Van Burik 34 (Hertha)
Attendance: 63,000 (sold out)
SCHALKE 2-1 NÜRNBERG
Böhme 54 Krzynówek 62
Waldoch 66
Rink nicely clobbered donkey Van Hoogdalem before crashing a shot
against the post at 15'. Böhme intelligently hesitated before lobbing
Schalke into the lead from Möller's exact through pass. Krzynówek
turned his countryman Hajto inside out before slotting past Reck.
Waldoch, yet another Pole, snatched the game-winner stabbing home from
close range after amateur Wolf made yet another crucial mistake (he
cost Nürnberg the 0-1 against Bayern last week) mis-timing a vital
header.
Assists: Möller, Jarolim
Attendance: 60,683 (sold out)
COTTBUS 1-1 1860 MÜNCHEN
Helbig 81 Hujdurovic 68 (og)
Kaluzny headed Reghecampf's cross against the post. Lenz deflected
Max' header against the crossbar. Hujdurovic shockingly slammed Markus
Weissenberger's cross into his own goal. Helbig managed the equalizer
shooting at a defender and then luckily past Jentzsch after good hustle
by Kaluzny.
Assist: Weissenberger
Attendance: 15,430
WOLFSBURG 4-0 ROSTOCK
Klimowicz 4, 5
Róbson Ponté 7
Juskowiak 37
Klimowicz towered over the Hansa defense to head in Munteanu's free
kick. Only one minute later the HUGE Argentine striker used Róbson
Ponté's disguised through pass to fire in the 2-0 from a sharp angle.
RP then put himself onto the scoreboard as well after receiving the
ball from Sarpei and dribbling two "defenders". Juskowiak put the
icing on the cake stabbing in Klimowicz' centre.
Diego Fernando Klimowicz is the personified danger in front of goal!
Assists: Munteanu, Róbson Ponté, Sarpei, Klimowicz
Attendance: 12,615
19 APRIL 2002
ST. PAULI 0-4 HAMBURG
Romeo 19, 58
Groth 45
Hoogma 49
Inceman won a penalty but Pieckenhagen saved Meggle's spot kick.
Hamburg took the lead via Romeo's diving header from Meijer's cross.
Groth scored with a deflected shot following a short Cardoso corner.
Hoogma headed in uncontestedly after Meijer headed on a corner and
Romeo completed the rout with another header from Albertz' cross.
Assists: Meijer (x2), Cardoso, Albertz
Attendance: 54,130
