27 MARCH 2002

GERMANY 4-2 USA
Ziege 44 Mathis 17, 71
Neuville 61
Bierhoff 65
Frings 68

Under the frenetic cheers of 28,000+ at the sold out Ostseestadion the
home side, which was missing 8 first team regulars in Kahn, Nowotny,
Wörns, Rehmer, Deisler, Ballack, Scholl and Jancker, got off to a better
start with two huge chances through Neuville and Ziege at 13 minutes.

The visitors then grabbed the surprise lead on the counter attack when
Donovan skinned Baumann on the wing before pulling the ball back for
Mathis, the MetroStars forward feelingly curled the ball against the
post, it rebounded back to him and he tapped into an empty net.
Bierhoff missed a sitter wide open 5m in front of goal at 32' and
Schneider curled a 36' free kick against the crossbar before Ziege
scored the overdue equalizer with a nice free kick from 20 meters
at the brink of half time.

7 strong minutes in the 2nd half were enough for Germany's B team to
turn the game around completely: Shortly after an hour Linke flicked
onto Schneider's corner and little Neuville headed in from 3 meters.
Bierhoff, who has never been the fastest player to begin with made it
3-1 by beating the awfully slow Agoos to Schneider's centre. Frings
put the game out of reach 3 minutes later when he swapped passes with
Böhme who came on for the slightly injured Ziege before heading in
the Schalker's cross.

Mathis gave the US team a second on another counter attack after former
Nürnberger Joe-Max Moore beat the German offside trap which was playing
far too high up the pitch.

Assists: Linke, Schneider, Böhme, Moore
Attendance: 28,863 (sold out)

24 MARCH 2002

WOLFSBURG 2-0 BREMEN
Klimowicz 64
Petrov 78

Munteanu cleared Klimowicz' (!) header behind his own line, linesman
turned a blind eye though. Already the second week in a row Werder
had a perfectly regular goal disallowed. And this is how things turn
out: No goal for Bremen but one for Wolfsburg, Klimowicz sprung onto
Biliskov's fine through pass before rounding Rost and tapping into
the empty net. The vastly underrated Petrov decided the match on the
counter attack, Rost came out 1-on-1 and got caught in no-man's-land,
the Bulgarian international fired in from the edge of the box.

Assists: Biliskov, Klimowicz
Attendance: 14,275

DORTMUND 3-0 COTTBUS
Ewerthon 28
Rosický 35
Reina 80

Timo Rost was sent off only 17 minutes into the game for a hard foul
on Kehl, his 2nd bookable offence. Dortmund needed little time to
capitalize, 11 minutes later Ewerthon poked in Koller's centre at
the far post. Rosický doubled the lead after winning the ball himself,
swapping passes with big Koller and then finishing with a whack across
goal. 10 minutes before the end, the almost forgotten Billy Reina put
the icing on the cake by running onto Evanílson's through pass and
rounding the 'keeper before tapping into an empty net.

Assists: Koller (x2), Evanílson
Red Card: Rost 17 (Cottbus)
Attendance: 65,000

23 MARCH 2002

HERTHA 2-0 NÜRNBERG
Alex Alves 3, 32

Goor opened up the FCN defense with a trough pass to Preetz, "der Lange"
who will play one more season (much to the "delight" of the Hertha fans)
centred for Alex Alves who had a field day slotting in. Double A added a
second shortly after half an hour after more great work by Goor down the
wing. Marcelinho sent a penalty kick, awarded for a handball, wide.

Deisler made his comeback after over 5 months on the sidelines when
he came on for Marcelinho at 77' and the fans, who obviously have not
forgiven him for joining Bayern next season, violently whistled, jeered
and booed him.

Assists: Preetz, Goor
Attendance: 37,163

SCHALKE 3-0 KAISERSLAUTERN
Wilmots 45
Möller 59
Agali 81

Agali had a regular goal disallowed for offside. Wilmots headed in
Böhme's free kick right at the brink of half time. Möller made it
2-0 with a skillful shot from the edge of the box, right into the
bottom-right corner. Agali completed a comfortable victory with a
header from Asamoah's cross.

Assists: Böhme, Sand, Asamoah
Attendance: 60,683 (sold out)

BAYERN MÜNCHEN 3-0 KÖLN
Élber 64, 88
Salihamidzic 83 (Pen)

A second half brace by Giovane Élber was enough to see off a doomed
Köln in this horrid game. It was Köln who could have gone ahead early
in the second half when Cullmann smashed Voigt's hard centre against
the crossbar. Élber then received a long, headed pass from Effenberg,
backed into his marker Song, killed the ball, turned around and rifled
a thunderous just below the crossbar! The irreplacable Salihamidzic
converted a spot kick after Santa Cruz suffered from a sudden impulse
of faintness in the box before Élber powerfully headed in his second
from Hargreaves' cross.

With his two goals, Giovane Élber has surpassed Stephane Chapuisat as
the league's all-time foreign top goalgetter with 108 goals.

Assists: Effenberg, Santa Cruz, Hargreaves
Attendance: 44,000

LEVERKUSEN 4-0 1860 MÜNCHEN
Sebescen 45
Kirsten 49, 81
Bastürk 61

Berbatov missed three huge chances in the first half before Leverkusen
finally came through in the 45th minute when Sebescen headed in a Zé
Roberto free kick. Kirsten came on as a 2nd half sub and came through
after only 4 minutes on the pitch when he tapped in Ramelow's centre.
Bastürk fired into the top-left angle after Nowotny carried the ball
over half the length of the pitch and Kirsten completed the rout with
another tap-in, this time from Zé Roberto's centre.

Real Madrid has now officially joined the hunt for Lúcio while Bayern
has expressed their interest in Zé Roberto as successor for the aging
Lizarazu -- that's the price Leverkusen has to pay for playing such a
successful season.

Assists: Zé Roberto (x2), Ramelow, Neuville
Attendance: 22,500 (sold out)

ROSTOCK 1-1 HAMBURG
Jakobsson 51 Barbarez 66

Swedish centre back Andreas Jakobsson gave the home side the lead with
a running header from Maul's cross. Ex-Rostocker Barbarez scored the
equalizer with an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box.

Assist: Maul
Attendance: 22,200

ST. PAULI 1-2 STUTTGART
Cenci 83 Balakov 75
						Dundee 82

Playmaker Thomas Meggle (8 goals, 4 assists), who can leave the Kiez-
Club for only €475.000 at the end of the season, had a perfectly regular
goal disallowed for offside. A quarter of an hour before the end, his
counterpart on the other team received the ball on the wing and cut
inside before unleashing a fulminant shot into the top-left angle.
Dundee headed a rare second before Cenci scored the consolation only
a minute later from Rath's hard, low centre.

Assists: Meißner, Seitz, Rath
Attendance: 20,629 (sold out)

FREIBURG 0-1 MÖNCHENGLADBACH
						Van Lent 79

Van Lent beautifully chested down Zeyer's short clearance and dummied
Diarra before volleying against the crossbar. Coulibaly headed Zandi's
free kick against the post at the other end. Van Lent headed the ball
over Freiburg's reserve 'keeper Reus who came out of his goal too late
for the game winner.

Gladbach, now at 33 points, should be safe from relegation while
Freiburg is really struggling. They need to get their act together
soon as the team easily has enough potential to avoid the drop,
even without Kehl.

Assist: Kluge
Attendance: 25,000 (sold out)
