10 MARCH 2002

SCHALKE 2-1 STUTTGART
Waldoch 60 Adhemar 78
Sand 90

First hour offered little excitement but then Agali flicked onto a Böhme
corner and Waldoch headed the home side into the lead at the far post.
There was huge controversy whether the ball had really crossed the line
in mid-air though. Adhemar rifled home the 1-1 equalizer after Schalke
failed to clear a Hleb cross. Sand won the game in the 90th minute in
excellent fashion chesting down Djordjevic's cross, dummying a defender
and then shooting past Hildebrand.

Assists: Agali, Ganea, Djordjevic
Attendance: 60,683 (sold out)

HERTHA 6-0 HAMBURG
Preetz 40
Goor 44, 62, 85, 90
Marcelinho 54

Preetz gave Hertha the lead after Goor flicked onto Marcelinho's corner.
Goor made it 2-0 only 4 minutes later, Lapaczinski sent a 40 meter pass
into the box, the Belgian winger pounced onto it, dribbled the 'keeper
and shot high into the net from an acute angle. Marcelinho added a 3rd
only 9 minutes into the 2nd half when the defense dodged Marx' cross and
he fired through Pieckenhagen's braces! Goor finished the game with a
clean-as-a-whistle hat-trick, a ferocious first-time strike, another
whack across goal and a knee-in from Dárdai's centre.

Hamburg's highest defeat in 15 years, congratulations Hertha!

Assists: Goor, Lapaczinski, Marx, Beinlich, Tretschok, Dárdai
Red Card: Benjamin 88 (Hamburg)
Attendance: 36,238

9 MARCH 2002

BAYERN MÜNCHEN 2-1 1860 MÜNCHEN
Paulo Sérgio 72 Stranzl 75
Fink 90

Élber took a dive under pressure from Stranzl but Tarnat, in Scholl's
absence, whacked the resulting penalty against the post. Paulo Sérgio
gave Bayern the lead with a toe-poke from Hargreaves' fine through
pass, the ball took a wicked deflection off the 'keeper and slowly
trickled into the net. Stranzl equalized with a mighty blast from the
edge of the box after Bayern failed to clear a free kick. Fink scored
the game-winner with a thumping header from Sforza's beautifully
curled free kick.

Assists: Hargreaves, Sforza
Attendance: 68,000 (sold out)

ROSTOCK 2-1 KAISERSLAUTERN
Arvidsson 37 Klose 72
Lantz 73

Swedish striker Arvidsson, getting a rare start, had the first chance
of the game when he headed Rydlewicz' cross against the post. Fellow
Swede Jakobsson headed against his own woodwork after Hill flicked
onto Basler's cross. Sex-sinner Ramzy, who has been granted pardon by
FCK after their initial suspension but who has been fined heavily, was
sent off for a very rough foul on Hill, his second bookable offence.

Arvidsson finally came through 8 minutes before half time when he
slotted home Lantz' through pass. Klose beautifully made it 1-1 with
a shot across goal and under Bräutigam after receiving the ball on
the counter attack. Man of the Match Marcus Lantz (the 3rd Swede in
Hansa's rows) won the game only a minute later when he played out the
FCK defense with a simple give-and-go and rolled the ball past Koch.

Assists: Lantz, Lokvenc, Di Salvo
Red Card: Ramzy 31 (Kaiserslautern)
Attendance: 15,800

DORTMUND 3-1 MÖNCHENGLADBACH
Nielsen 10 (og) Dedê 48 (og)
Amoroso 63 (Pen)
Koller 77

Ewerthon, released by Evanílson, soared down the right wing and drove
into the box, Eberl tackled the ball onto Koller before Peter Nielsen
panicly "cleared" the ball into his own net. Dedê equalized with an
even prettier own goal at the other end, shoveling Van Lent's cross
past Lehmann. Amoroso wasted two major chances from open play, then
took the easy way out and dived after a love tap from Witeczek and
cooly sunk the penalty himself. Koller put the game out of reach when
he bundled Amoroso's mis-hit shot over the line.

Assists: Koller, Van Lent, Amoroso (x2)
Attendance: 68,600 (sold out)

LEVERKUSEN 2-0 COTTBUS
Zé Roberto 12
Berbatov 90

Diminutive assist king Zé Roberto headed (!) Leverkusen into the lead
at the far post. Kaluzny flashed a 45th minute header just wide.
Hujdurovic scratched Ballack's goalbound shot from the line. Zé Roberto
was hauled down in the box but Kirsten, too nervous on the outlook of
scoring his 179th goal joining Stefan Kuntz as the 5th best scorer in
Bundesliga history, had his spot kick saved by Piplica. Berbatov tapped
in at the far post after fellow substitute Brdaric's solo over half the
length of the pitch.

Assists: Ramelow, Brdaric
Attendance: 22,500 (sold out)

NÜRNBERG 0-4 BREMEN
						Frings 6
						Aílton 21, 30
						Stalteri 51

Kos tried to head a routine longball back to his 'keeper, it fell short
so Kampa had to come out but somehow the 'keeper must have missed
Frings who splashed in between and tapped into an empty net! What a
terrible mistake, it's been the second week in a row the young 'keeper
has been guilty of the 0-1. Aílton capitalized on a goalmouth scramble,
caused by a dangerous Lisztes corner, slashing the ball home at the far
post.

Young defender Stehle could not quite make it to Lisztes' awesome 60m
pass, Frings pounced onto it and centred for Aílton to make it 0-3.
Stalteri, making his first start after 4 months on the bench, added a
fourth with a header from Lisztes' corner. Aílton carelessly wasted the
chance of scoring a hat trick when he chipped just over the bar. In the
end Werder had the luxury of missing a penalty kick through Skripnik.

Werder now faces Hertha in a trend-setting game for the final UEFA Cup
spot next week.

Assists: Frings, Lisztes
Attendance: 24,500

WOLFSBURG 5-1 KÖLN
Klimowicz 4, 18 Kreuz 45
Rau 7
Petrov 62
Karhan 77

Klimowicz gave the Wolves the early lead from Róbson Ponté's centre
after Schnoor had opened up the Billygoat's defense with a precise
longball. The huge Argie striker then heeled the ball into the path
of Rau who only had to shoot into the far corner. Klimowicz himself
poked in Petrov's long cross to virtually decide the game within 18
minutes.

Kreuz volleyed in the consolation from Baranek's cross before WOB
added two more after the break, a solo over half the length of
the pitch by the lightning-quick Petrov and a close range effort
by tireless Slovak workhorse Karhan after a pretty heel pass from
Austrian playmaker Kühbauer. Köln are mentally relegated.

Assists: Róbson Ponté, Klimowicz (x2), Petrov, Baranek, Kühbauer
Attendance: 12,583

ST. PAULI 1-0 FREIBURG
Patschinski 57

Patschinski scored the lone goal of the afternoon when he quickly
killed a low cross coming into the box, turned around his marker
and swatted the ball past the 'keeper into the far corner. His
shot looked rather savable to me. Ramdane was sent off for trying
to destroy Kientz.

Assist: Held
Red Card: Ramdane 78 (Freiburg)
Attendance: 20,358
