BUNDESLIGA ROUND 7

ALEX ALVES MAKES BUNDESLIGA HISTORY

Dortmund bounce back to win a point in Frankfurt. Hamburg hand Schalke their
first defeat of the season. Alex Alves scores from 52 meters out to turn around
an already lost game. Bochum easily bury Unterhaching.

Otto Rehhagel resigns as coach of Kaiserslautern after his 'Lautern reserves only
draw against Cottbus. Hansa upsets the reigning champion at home. Löwen and
Bayer Löwen battle out a goalless draw.

Stuttgart win their first away point of the season thanks to an unbelievable
blunder by Wolfsburg 'keeper Reitmaier while Werder finally win their first away
match in 2000 at Freiburg.

29 SEPTEMBER 2000

FRANKFURT 1-1 DORTMUND
Wimmer 22 Bobic 72

Wimmer scored his first Bundesliga goal from Heldt's fabulous through pass.
21-year-old talent Michael Mutzel had the great chance to make it 2-0 from
close range 6 minutes before the break but was denied by a great save from
Lehmann. Bobic equalized half way into the 2nd half with an easy tap-in after
great work from Addo. Justified draw.

Attendance : 38,600

30 SEPTEMBER 2000

HAMBURG 2-0 SCHALKE
Heinz 35
Mahdavikia 83

Heinz smashed in Yeboah's centre. Mahdavikia and Yeboah each blew 1-on-1
chances before Mahdavikia knocked Tøfting's cross against the post and bundled
the rebound over the line to make it 2-0. Van Kerckhoven was harshly sent off for
shoving Fischer. It was about time Schalke lost a match, they were without
Mpenza though and it showed! The turf in the Volkspark is an utter and complete
impudence!

Red Card : Van Kerckhoven 87 (Schalke)
Attendance : 51,366

HERTHA 4-2 KÖLN
Alex Alves 29 Arveladze 23
Preetz 30 Lottner 28 (Pen)
Wosz 44, 46

Arveladze turned in Lottner's mis-hit shot for his first Bundesliga goal. Köln then
won a very soft penalty after Király barely touched Baranek in the box, captain
Lottner made it 2-0 from the spot.

Now fasten your seatbelts and hang on as you're going to witness a historical
goal : Preetz tapped the ball to Alex Alves and he let it fly from the kick off circle,
the ball took an incredible flight path and landed behind the dazzled Pröll in the
net!!!

I think I don't have to tell you that this will easily be the Goal of the Year, I guess
you better see for yourself at :

videos/55240-0_wmt_adsl.htm

Hertha now of course automatically back in the game and with following wind :
Pröll couldn't hold onto Alex Alves' shot and Preetz capped off crazy 7 minutes
with 4 goals as he chipped the rebound into the roof.

Keller headed Beinlich's corner straight to Wosz who turned the game around with
a stiff distance shot from the edge of the box. Darek then added a spectacular 2nd
with a running volley dropkick under the bar from Schmidt's brilliant pass,
awesome goal!

Hertha should have been awarded a penalty when Hauptmann blatantly
handballed in the box but so it stayed 4-2.

Attendance : 30,000

BOCHUM 3-0 UNTERHACHING
Maric 49, 89
Peschel 68

Seifert had a regular goal disallowed for offside. Bastürk played a 1-2 with Weber,
cut into the area, crossed and Maric unguardedly nodded into the near corner -
awesome creating by Bastürk! VfL 'keeper Van Duijnhoven unluckily busted
himself open during a collision with Maric, Thomas Ernst came on in his place.

Tremmel couldn't hold onto Weber's powerful shot, "PePe" Peschel nodded the
rebound over the line. Bastürk dribbled past 5 (!) Haching defenders but Maric
wasted his opening pass. Schindzielorz released Maric on the wing and as
everybody was expected him to cross he cut inside and buried the ball in the
top-right corner.

Attendance : 15,505

KAISERSLAUTERN 1-1 COTTBUS
H Koch 3 (Pen) Micevski 48

'Lautern coach Otto Rehhagel was under massive pressure before the game as
large parts of the FCK supporters wanted to see him as well as the whole board
axed.

But things went well for his FCK reserves (Gabriel, Schjønberg, Basler, Buck,
Djorkaeff, Grammozis, Ratinho, Reich and Yakin are all out injured as I write
this), Sebõk in an act of sheer stupidity gifted 'Lautern a penalty for blatantly
pulling down Hristov, Adonis scored the fastest goal of the season from the
penalty spot.

Fellow Hungarian Energie defender Mátyus tested Georg Koch twice, at the other
end Akrapovic had to get a Ramzy header off the line. Labak curled a cross
against the post. Micevski equalized via a ping pong goal, the ball first went
against the far post and went in from there, again Labak providing the centre.

Helbig carried another Energie counter attack over half the length of the pitch
but didn't have any energy left for a successful finish. By that time "Otto raus!"
(Otto out!) chants already resounded through the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Cottbus
had two more gigantic chances on the counter attack and could easily have won
this game with better finishing.

Otto Rehhagel stepped down as FCK coach on Sunday afternoon after guiding the
team to 1 championship and 2 UEFA Cup berths. Klaus Toppmöller, formerly of
Frankfurt and Bochum is rumored to be his successor.

Attendance : 35,354

BAYERN MÜNCHEN 0-1 ROSTOCK
							Brand 16

Emara left Salihamidzic in his dust, drew to the baseline and pulled the ball back
for Brand who well thought out slotted the ball past Kuffour and Kahn into the
net. Baumgart volleyed another huge chance wide minutes later.

Pieckenhagen made 2 great saves against Jancker and Scholl. Hansa's 'keeper
who was incredibly good this afternoon made 2 more fantastic, crucial saves
against Brazzo's close-range shot and Scholl's free kick to secure the upset.

Hansa has now won in Leverkusen and in München against Bayern and are still
unbeaten under new coach Funkel. Bayern are in the middle of a mini-crisis :
First the desolate showing in Köln, then the unlucky loss against PSG and now
a feeble and uninspired performance against Rostock.

Attendance : 55,000

LEVERKUSEN 0-0 1860 MÜNCHEN

Bierofka struck the post after clobbering Zivkovic. Ballack curled a free kick
against the crossbar. Brdaric almost became the match winner once again but
his header came back off the crossbar. Rink was sent off in the final minute for
elbowing Stranzl.

Red Card : Rink 90 (Leverkusen)
Attendance : 22,500 (sold out)

1 OCTOBER 2000

WOLFSBURG 2-2 STUTTGART
Akpoborie 30 Maltritz 6 (og)
Munteanu 74 Lisztes 75

Maltritz played a routine backpass to his 'keeper, Reitmaier kicked fresh air, 0-1
Stuttgart. Pinto then has to make it 0-2 after awesome work by Thiam but he
blasted straight at Reitmaier. Akpoborie headed in Munteanu's free kick.
Hildebrand and Blank then made 2 vital saves against the Nigerian forward.

Hildebrand couldn't hold onto Juskowiak's close-range header and even parried
the follow-up shot but was without chance when Munteanu wide openly banged
in the 2nd putback. Lisztes perfectly killed Balakov's free kick and scooped the
ball into the far corner to give Stuttgart their first away point of the season.

Attendance : 15,378

FREIBURG 0-1 BREMEN
							Aílton 54

Aílton already struck the outside of the net after 47 seconds. Baya juggled the
ball around 3 times, then laid it back for Kobiashvili who TKOed Frings with a
stiff shot to the head. Golz made a great save against Bode who broke through
the Freiburg defense thanks to Ernst's through pass.

Aílton ran onto Herzog's brilliant throughball and rounded Golz before tapping
the ball into the empty net - World Class finishing! Richie then denied the
Brasilian a 2nd with a great diving save. Werder was lucky not to have a penalty
whistled against them when Frings slid into Ramdane in the box.

Golz made another tremendous save from Wicky's disguised shot. Pizarro struck
the post with a spectacular falling sideway kick, Tskitishvili barely deflected
Bogdanovic's follow-up over the bar. Werder blossomed after taking the lead
and never looked back defending it with three forwards on the pitch at the same
time for the 1st away win in 2000.

Attendance : 25,000 (sold out)
