Zukanovic got Chievo's new coach, there's no point in listing his name because no one really cares, off to a great start when he tapped in Birsa's free kick. Antonelli headed a fantastic cross to the back post for Matri's equaliser. Radovanovic was sent off for going through Bertolacci but bottler Pinilla missed the penalty however he redeemed himself by heading in the winner.

Well this was disappointing. Hallfredsson returned a poor clearing header with a bouncing half volley. Hamsik plundered the equaliser thanks to an inadvertent asset from Koulibaly and gave Napoli the lead at the second attempt on a rebound. Lopez scored a sensational solo goal after coming off the bench. He dummied two players before slamming low into the corner. Higuain, who had returned to type i.e. sucking and missing chances after a good first season in Serie A, scored his first goal of the season with a powerful run into the box. Callejon made with 4-2 as Napoli began to run riot. An amazing assist from Albiol (!), who ran 50 yards and beat two players before centring, gave Higuain his second and he completed his hat-trick after Mertens for the penalty.

Milan stole Fiorentina's set piece coach over the summer and have been reaping the rewards (not just in this match). Zapata headed down what looked like an overhit corner and De Jong headed in from close range. Substitute Ilicic found a ton space 40 yards from goal and strode forward, unchallenged, before firing into the left corner.

Empoli had been unbeaten in their last five games but the draw specialists were floored in a 15 minute blitz. Sau turned onto a pass before firing low into the right corner. Avelar made it 0-2 with a sumptuous left footed free kick. Ekdal was fouled for the penalty and muscled his way through the Empoli defence for Cagliari's fourth.

Rock bottom Parma were thumped in what as a local derby. Floccari headed the visitors into the lead before Acerbi, back after beating bollock cancer for a second time, headed in Berardi's cross. Taider scored an absolute crackerjack of a third goal. He intercepted a clearance but a heavy first touch took the ball away from him so he stepped into it before BLASTING a left foot shot into the top left corner. Cassano tapped in a rebound.
