9 December 2003

PARTIZAN 1-1 MARSEILLE
Delibasic 80 Mido 61

Mido headed in a free kick but a sloppy header by the much sought after Van Buyten
gifted Delibasic the equaliser.

Assist : Johansen (fk)

REAL MADRID 1-1 PORTO
Solari 9 Derlei 35 (pen)

Derlei cancelled out a beautiful opening goal from the penalty spot. Zidane started the
move with a back heel to Figo and despite contact, which is usually enough to ground him,
Figo side stepped his marker and threaded the ball to Solari via a Ronaldo dummy and
the luxury substitute shot into the corner. An unnecessary piece of dribbling by Salgado in
his own penalty area forced the defender into fouling Deco and Derlei rammed home the
penalty. He should have won the match late on following another mistake by Salgado.

Assists : Figo, Deco (won pen)

26 November 2003

MARSEILLE 1-2 REAL MADRID
Mido 63 Beckham 35
								Ronaldo 73

Beckham opened the scoring with a fantastic free kick, one of the better ones
he's scored. Mido headed Marseille level from Vachousek's excellent chipped
pass. As the Marseille defence watched Raul and Zidane exchange passes, Ronaldo
ran into the box and turned Raul's cross into the net.

Assists : Ronaldo (won fk), Vachousek, Raul

PORTO 2-1 PARTIZAN
McCarthy 25, 50 Delibasic 92
Savic 50 (og)

McCarthy tapped in when Pantic failed to hold onto Maniche's shot. Porto scored
a farcical second goal. Savic under hit a backpass, Pantic raced off his line to
clear and missed leaving McCarthy with another tap-in. Having denied Delibasic
with an excellent save, Baia threw himself at the strikers feet, missed, 2-1.

I'm not convinced Porto will pose much of a threat to Europe's elite. Their forwards stink
and Baia is a mistake waiting to happen.

4 November 2003

PARTIZAN 0-0 REAL MADRID

The home side had more chances but failed to score sending Real through to the next round on the back
of a rare goalless draw.

PORTO 1-0 MARSEILLE
Alenichev 21

A fluke goal by Alenichev helped Porto, without Deco, complete the double over Marseille. Alenichev
ran onto Derlei's fantastic reverse pass and sent a cross to the back post but the ball dropped into
the net. The terrible Marlet managed to shoot wide with the goal at his mercy. Baia made a miraculous
save to prevent Drogba from adding to his tally and he almost grabbed a late equaliser but his free kick
came back off the post.

Assist : Derlei

22 October 2003

MARSEILLE 2-3 PORTO
Drogba 24 Maniche 31
Marlet 84 Derlei 35
								Alenichev 81

Marlet flicked on a long ball, Drogba muscled his way through the Porto defence before
beating Baia. A brilliant first time shot by Maniche gave Porto an unexpected equaliser
and Derlei stunned the home side with a low shot inside the post after a hospital pass
gifted Porto possession in the Marseille half. Deco danced through the Marseille defence
before laying on Porto's third though Hemdani should have cleared. Despite being
fouled Marlet managed to head in Meriem's free kick but it wasn't enough to deny Porto
their first victory.

Assist : Marlet, Derlei, ?, Deco, Meriem (fk)

REAL MADRID 1-0 PARTIZAN
Figo 38

The solitary goal came from a Beckham corner kick, Figo sent a looping header into the net
though Partizan's goalkeeper Pantic was distracted when Raul ran in front of him.

Assist : Beckham (ck)

1 October 2003

PORTO 1-3 REAL MADRID
Costinha 7 Helguera 28
								Solari 37
								Zidane 67

Casillas parried Deco's free kick straight onto the head of Costinha, 1-0.
Porto spurned chances to increase their lead before Helguera drew Real level
with a header. Solari capitalised on a mix-up in the Porto defence to give Real
the lead. Zidane was busted open when he eat a knee (unintentional). McCarthy
had a goal disallowed for offside. Zidane finished off Porto with a superb
volley.

Assists : Solari, Roberto Carlos, Figo (fk)

MARSEILLE 3-0 PARTIZAN
Drogba 62, 68, 85

Delibasic earned himself a second yellow for diving in the box (the ref was Italian so
they have an eye for these things) at the end of the first half. Despite being down
a player Partizan could have taken the lead but for a superb clearance by Meite with
Marseille's 'keeper stranded. A lucky bounce off Partizan goalkeeper Radakovic gave
Drogba his first goal. He headed in a second five minutes later from an absolutely superb
reverse pass. Drogba then combined with Sytchev on the break to complete a hat-trick.

Assists : Meriem, Sytchev
Red Card : Delibasic 45 (Partizan)

16 September 2003

PARTIZAN 1-1 PORTO
Delibasic 54 Costinha 21

Costinha headed in a Deco corner, despite the attempts of the Partizan defenders to
clear after the ball had crossed the line. Delibasic lashed in the equaliser after Drulovic's
free kick cannoned off Terrible West. Nice assist, shame about the haircut.

Assist : Deco (ck), West

REAL MADRID 4-2 MARSEILLE
R Carlos 29 Drogba 26
Ronaldo 33, 57 Van Buyten 84
Figo 60 (Pen)

Some quite brilliant defending allowed Drogba to give Marseille a shock lead. Real were
level three minutes later when that lucky, cheating little ****** Roberto Carlos volleyed
a Beckham cross straight into the ground and it looped up into the top corner. A great
run by Salgado on the right gifted Ronaldo his first and he added a second with a stunning
first time shot. Roberto Carlos conned the ref into awarding a penalty with his trademark
vault over the 'keeper trick. Figo scored twice, only the second goal counted, referees are
arseholes as are FIFA for the new rule. Van Buyten reduced the arrears with a powerful
header.

Assists : Mido, Beckham, Zidane, R Carlos (won pen), Vachousek (ck)
