SERIE A ROUND 21

ENTER GATTUSO

Gattuso inspires Milan to an away victory over Bologna. Roma throw away a

Parma battle out a goal-less draw away to Lazio.

12 FEBRUARY 2000

BARI 1-1 VERONA
Neqrouz 44 Morfeo 38

Falsini whipped in a cross, Neqrouz weakly headed it straight to Morfeo who
beat Mancini with an awesome scissor kick. An identical mistake led to the
equaliser as a cross was headed out Neqrouz blasted a right fight volley
into the top corner.

Cassano played in Spinesi with a back heel but Frey made one of his trademark
charges off the line. Once again Italian TV desperately dug out every little
clip of Cassano doing something clever with the ball. They've convinced
themselves he's the next superstar of Italian football as he was born the
day after Italy last won the World Cup and is the same height as Baggio
they've decided 2 + 2 = 5.

BOLOGNA 2-3 MILAN
Ingesson 58 Gattuso 31
Eriberto 59 Shevchenko 48
							Bierhoff 57

Pagliuca made a brilliant save from a Shevchenko volley. Minutes later
Gattuso beat him with a brilliantly placed volley after Andersson headed out
a corner. Pagliuca made another fine save from Serginho.

Gattuso played a one-two with Boban and fired in a cross, Shevchenko met it
with a diving header that Bierhoff would have been proud of. Gattuso was also
involved in Milan's third, he flicked on a header to Shevchenko, Pagliuca
spilled his shot and Bierhoff gobbled up the rebound. Bologna set
up a tense finish with two awesome goals in two minutes, Ingesson beat
Abbiati from close range thanks to a fabulous back heel from Signori on the
edge of the box and another World Class assist, a beautiful first time
chipped pass to Eriberto who brilliantly killed the ball before firing past
Abbiati.

Attendance : 36,000
Red Card(s) : Falcone 88 (Bologna)

13 FEBRUARY 2000

FIORENTINA 1-1 UDINESE
Batistuta 71 Jorgensen 62

Rui Costa blasted a shot against the crossbar. The ball fell to Cois from a
corner, he humiliated the onrushing Locatelli by lifting the ball over his head
and then smashed a half volley at goal but Turci saved.

Heinrich found himself in front of goal when expecting to be caught offside
and when the flag didn't arrive he bottled it and shot wide. Udinese's new
Brazilian defender, Alberto, sent Amoroso on his backside twice with subtle
feints before whipping in a cross which Jorgensen powered past Toldo. Adani's
horrible shot fell kindly to Batistuta who wrong footed Turci to score the
equaliser. Turci made a magnificent save to prevent a Bertotto own goal.
Giannichedda headed off the line as Udinese hung on for a point. Mijatovic
was back for Fiorentina and it was as if he never missed a game i.e. he did
nothing.

Attendance : 35,000

INTER 1-1 TORINO
Vieri 32 Mendez 20

Sommese hit the crossbar with a shot from 30yds, the ball bounced off the
crossbar and fell to Ferrante, his cross was touched on to Mendez by
Scarchilli and the Uruguayan made no mistake. Vieri shot wide from
close range following good work by Recoba. Pecchia missed an open goal
after Peruzzi punched out another shot by Sommese. Cordoba released Recoba
on the left flank and his cross was met by an outstanding Vieri header.
Pastine then clawed out a first time strike from Baggio, Recoba once again
providing the pass from the left wing.

Panucci shot straight at Pastine from Seedorf's cross. Lentini wasted a
header when unmarked in front of goal. Recoba dribbled through the
Torino defence but was shut out twice by Pastine. Moriero headed straight
at Pastine from Georgatos's cross.

Attendance : 57,000

JUVENTUS 1-0 LECCE
Zidane 26

Inzaghi should have been booked for diving twice. A hospital pass gifted
Del Piero with a run in on goal but he shot horribly wide. Zidane scored
with a brilliant, dipping free kick. Del Piero wasted another great chance,
shooting way over the bar when put through by Zidane. Inzaghi headed into
the ground. Tacchinardi was sent off for a cynical foul on Lima.

Lucarelli headed over the bar and Chimenti came off his line to block
Birindelli. Typical boring Juve.

Attendance : 35,000
Red Card(s): Tacchinardi 44 (Juventus)

PERUGIA 2-2 ROMA
Olive 54, 80 Nakata 24
							Montella 42 (Pen)

Totti got himself booked for protesting over the Perugia wall from a free
kick and then earned a red card for pushing the ref. Mazzantini dropped a
long ball, Montella passed back to Nakata who brilliantly chipped the ball
into the net. Delvecchio won a penalty, Montella converted. Olive gave
Antonioli a taste of things to come with a powerful strike at the end of the
first half.

Roma reject Alenitchev was kept out by a fantastic low save from Antonioli.
Alenitchev crossed into the box, Melli headed down to Olive who slotted past
Antonioli. Olive equalised with a header from Alenichev's corner. Capello
was sent off for whining.

Attendance : 20,000
Red Card(s) : Totti 20 (Roma)

PIACENZA 0-0 REGGINA

Pirlo went close with a header and free kick. Cristallini had the best chance
for the home side but Taibi saved at his feet.

Attendance : 11,000

VENEZIA 3-0 CAGLIARI
Ganz 47 (Pen), 56
Orlandini 88

Maniero went down in the box looking for a penalty and seconds later
Pedone made the most of a kick and dived. Ganz converted the penalty.
Luppi chipped in a free kick, Maniero flicked it on and Ganz poked the ball
past Scarpi. Mayele had Cagliari's best chance but Casazza saved. Valtolina
and Orlandini combined to score Venezia's third, Scarpi's awful positioning
leaving Orlandini with a huge gap in which to score.

Attendance : 8,458

LAZIO 0-0 PARMA

Lazio should have been awarded a penalty in the first minute as Thuram
shoulder charged Boksic in the box. Crespo lost Nesta with a great first
touch as he ran onto Dino Baggio's pass but shot high over the bar. Simeone
headed wide from Veron's free kick.

In the second half Lazio once again had strong claims for a penalty turned
down when Lassissi went through the back of Boksic. Salas wasted two half
decent chances from crosses. This was the Lazio of last season, a £100
million team that can't string more then 4 passes together. Pathetic.

Attendance : 50,000
