Palacio possibly scored the goal of the season. He was standing with his back to goal to the far left of the box. Jankovic swung in a corner and he jumped up and met the ball with a back heal volley, it looped high over a packed penalty are and dropped inside the top right corner though Marchetti did himself no favours by flapping at the ball like an idiot. While Marchetti may or may not have been at fault for the first goal he certainly was for the second. He flapped at a Sculli cross and Jankovic volleyed the ball through his legs and it trickled over the goal-line as a defender desperately slid in to clear. Man City reject Garrido slipped as he tracked a longball and Jankovic helped himself to another goal a minute after the restart. Ledesma converted a soft penalty awarded for a foul on Lulic. Diakite was sent off for dissent. Klose touched on a Ledesma cross and Gonzalez shot wide of Frey.
Genoa have won three of their last four games by a 3-2 margin. They also scored three goals in the other game, a 5-3 loss at Palermo.

Mariga chipped a ball upto Giovinco, with two touches he controlled the ball in the air and flicked it away from a defender onto his left foot then rifled a shot past Sorrentino. Andreolli fell over when trying to clear a cross gifting a cheaper equaliser to Thereau. Luciano volleyed a Giovinco free kick into his own net.

Montolivo sold his defence short with a hospital pass to Di Natale and from the edge of the box he lobbed over Boruc. Benatia, back from African Nations Cup duty, handled a cross to concede the penalty. Benatia was also at fault for Fiorentina's second. His poor clearance allowed Pasquale to measure a cross and Cassani ran from deep to plant a header past Handanovic. Jovetic went over under minimal contact with Benatia to win the second penalty - Benatia completing a hat-trick of assists from the opposition. Torje scored his first Serie A goal from a Di Natale lay-off.

Consigli tripped Miccoli to earn himself a red card and Palermo a penalty. Frezzolini, who had a fantastic game, made two brilliant point blank saves from Miccoli and then Budan on the follow-up but the Croat beat him at the third time of asking. Palermo hit the woodwork twice. In between Gabbiadini beat Silvestre down the left before pulling back a centre for Moralez.

Juan met a Totti corner with a commanding header to give Roma a deserved lead - they were giving the Inter defence fits from kick-off. Pjanic sent Borini into a foot race with Samuel, he checked inside Samuel, sending him crashing into the turf then side stepped the Argentinean's sliding tackle before shooting into the bottom right corner. Borini trapped a longball as the Inter defence stood waiting for offside then shrugged off Lucio before beating Julio Cesar for a second time. Even the hapless Bojan got in on the act. With his back to goal he wriggled away from three Inter defenders before firing low past Julio Cesar.
Inter conceded four goals for the second time in a week, not coincidentally since Motta left. Given Roma's budget, Lazio's lack of one and Udinese's appalling lack of ambition it would be best for Serie A if Roma get 3rd place. Problem is they're inconsistent and shaky at the back.
