FIORENTINA 4 (Vargas 36, Gilardino 55, Santana 68, Jovetic 84)
UDINESE 1 (Pepe 41)

Montolivo touched on a free kick to Vargas who met the ball with a blistering left foot shot which crashed in off a post. A simple pass sent Di Natale racing against a high Fiorentina back-line and his perfectly weighted centre left Pepe with an easy finish. Handanovic fumbled from Santana and Gilardino snared the rebound. Fiorentina broke through with another attack down the left, Gobbi pulled back a Jovetic pass and Santana sent a shot looping over Handanovic. Jovetic completed the rout with a header.

Attendance : 25,418
Assists : Montolivo (fk), Di Natale, n/a, Gobbi, De Silvestre

JUVENTUS 2 (Del Piero 30 fk, Melo 83)
ATALANTA 1 (Amoruso 45)

Del Piero shot Juve into the lead with his trademark, un-defendable free kick. Diego, who was the player fouled when Juve won the free kick, made way for Giovinco three minutes later. Cannavaro's hand went up the second Padoin chipped a cross into the box, the linesman's flag stayed down and former Juventino Amoruso flicked the ball wide of Manninger. There had only been one team in the game since Juve scored - Atalanta but they paid the price for wasting chances when Melo came off the bench to head in the winner from a Del Piero cross.

Attendance : 20,310
Assists : Diego (won fk), Padoin, Del Piero

LIVORNO 1 (Tavano 85)
BARI 1 (Allegretti 24)

A freak goal gave Bari the lead against the run of play. Meggiorini took a shot from distance, the ball deflected off two Livorno defenders and clipped Allegretti as it bounced past a hopelessly wrong footed Rubinho. Played was suspended for a few minutes after the Livorno fans threw flares onto the running track. Tavano used his chest/shoulder to control a long ball and wriggled free of two giant defenders before poking past Gillet.

SAMPDORIA 1 (Guberti 48)
CAGLIARI 1 (Nene 81)

Guberti, on loan from Roma after a miserable six month stint at Roma, scored his second Serie A goal with a tap-in after a Pazzini shot came to him off two Cagliari defenders. Nene, who has a slight resemblance to the former Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton, headed in Conti's free kick. Nene was sent off for needlessly pulling down Poli.

Attendance : 23,000

MILAN 1 (Borriello 18 Pen)
LAZIO 1 (Lichtsteiner 32)

Another big match failure for Leonardo. It started well enough with Borriello converting a penalty Flamini won by running into Kolarov. Antonini botched a clearance, hooking the ball against two Lazio players and Lichtsteiner shot pass Dida to score for the second time in a week.

Attendance : 40,393

27 March 2010

ROMA 2 (De Rossi 17, Toni 73)
INTER 1 (Milito 66)

This much anticipated top of the table clash didn't disappoint and was one of the games of the season. A rare mistake by Julio literally handed Roma the lead. Brazil's #1 fumbled a Burdisso header, from Pizzaro free kick, and De Rossi stretched to poke the ball into an empty net. Samuel thundered a header against the underside of the crossbar. Milito also struck the woodwork early in the second half, while Toni missed a great chance to head Roma 2-0 up. Milito stabbed in the equaliser after Sneijder gathered a loose ball and flashed a centre across goal. Toni restored Roma's lead with a piece of opportunist finishing. Taddei struck a woeful shot but the ball landed at Toni's feet and his quick, low right foot shot beat Cesar. In what could prove to be one of the most decisive moments of the season Milito ran onto a bouncing ball in the Roma box and hammered a left foot volley against the inside of the left post.

Remaining Fixtures :
Roma : Bari (A), Atalanta (H), Lazio (A), Sampdoria (H), Parma (A), Cagliari (H), Chievo (A)
Inter : Bologna (H), Fiorentina (A), Juventus (H), Atalanta (H), Lazio (A), Chievo (H), Siena (A)

Roma have the tougher run in but Inter's form is woeful, with just two wins in their last nine games, and the Champions League is proving to be a major distraction. If Inter reach the semi-finals I think, hope, Roma will win the scudetto.

Attendance : 70,000
Assists : n/a, Sneijder, Taddei

PALERMO 3 (Miccoli 10, Miccoli 43 Pen, Miccoli 79)
BOLOGNA 1 (Adailton 38)

Pastore put in Miccoli with a lovely ball down the left wing and the striker cut inside before firing through Viviano's leg's, 1-0. Adailton equalised with another brilliant free kick. Hernandez dived to win the penalty. Liverani sent Miccoli away on the break to complete his hat-trick, he still had a lot of work to do, after selling a defender a dummy he once again nutmegged the 'keeper.

Miccoli should be in the World Cup squad but won't. Hopefully he'll get a chance to impress on a bigger stage in next year's Champions League. He's a great example of the type of technically gifted forwards Italian football has and used to produce. It's hard to see who will succeed the generation of Del Piero, Miccoli, Cassano, Di Natale etc, etc.

Attendance : 27,000
Assists : Pastore, Adailton (won fk), Hernandez (won pen), Liverani
