20 April 2008

ATALANTA 0
JUVENTUS 4 (Legrottaglie 47 seconds, Del Piero 6, Del Piero 34, Del Piero 65)

Legrottaglie headed Juve into a first minute lead from a Del Piero free kick. Five minutes later Trezeguet rescued Camoranesi's overhit cross and Del Piero lashed a close range volley past Coppola. Zanetti sent a ball over the top of an Atalanta defence that tried to play Del Piero offside 50 yards from goal and he duly punished them to give Juve a 0-3 half time lead. Del Piero completed his hat-trick when he literally jumped onto a sublime lobbed pass between two centre backs from Trezeguet and cracked a mid-air volley wide of Coppola. Brilliant goal.

Italian football sticker manufacturers Panini are convinced Del Piero will be part of Donadoni's Euro 2008 squad - he's included in their Italy squad. They've been wrong in the past but Donadoni is almost certain to reward the Juve captain for his excellent form this season but probably at Cassano's expense.

Assists : Del Piero (fk), Trezeguet, Zanetti, Trezeguet

CAGLIARI 2 (Acquafresca 9, Fini 64)
EMPOLI 0

Acquafresca got a lucky bounce off a defender as he pulled down a long ball, turned and volleyed past a poorly positioned Balli. Acquafresca flicked on a cross towards Fini and the midfielder, standing on the edge of the box, let the ball bounce before ripping a half volley into the roof of the net. Fantastic strike.

MILAN 5 (Kaka' 8 Pen, Kaka' 34 Pen, Kaka' 67, Inzaghi 73, Pato 88)
REGGINA 1 (Barreto 40)

Probably for the first time this year Kaka' was running and moving with the graceful ease that has become his trademark and it was one of these runs that resulted in the opening penalty. Seedorf threw himself over Vigiani to win the second. Barreto got Reggina briefly back into the match with a thumping shot from 25 yards after the Milan defence failed to clear a cross. Kaka' completed his hat-trick when he intercepted a clearance and from the left hand side of the box expertly placed a shot into the opposite corner. Pato replaced Seedorf, who is almost certainly gone if and when Milan tie up Ronaldinho, and had an instant impact. Collecting a Pirlo centre he shot against the inside of a post and Inzaghi snapped up the rebound to score his fifth goal in three games. Pato completed the rout with a superb header.

PARMA 1 (Budan 23 Pen)
NAPOLI 2 (Domizzi 48 Pen, Bogliacino 72)

Santacroce rugby tackled Lucarelli to concede the penalty. Mariga was sent off for a sloppy challenge on Mannini and Domizzi ensured the teams went in level on half time. Bogliacino embarrassed Bucci at his near post when he volleyed a deflected cross between the veteran's legs. Falcone and Gargano walked for their part in a mass brawl which erupted after Lavezzi was fouled by Castellini.

You'd think the club that produced Gianluigi Buffon some thirteen years ago would have by now developed someone better than the useless near 40 year old midget Luca Bucci.

Attendance : 18,000
Red Cards : Mariga 46 (Parma), Falcone 76 (Parma), Gargano 76 (Napoli), Gasbarroni 80 (Parma)
Assists : Lucarelli (won pen), Mannini (won pen), n/a

SAMPDORIA 3 (Cassano 23, Bellucci 44, Bellucci 55 Pen)

19 April 2008

ROMA 1 (Vucinic 54)
LIVORNO 1 (Diamanti 82)

Totti pulled up with a knee injury late in the first half after taking a shot from distance. Roma missed a hat-full of chances and should have been awarded a penalty for handball but eventually took the lead via a looping Vucinic header. Roma were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal when substitute Diamanti equalised with a fantastic left footed free kick. Several Roma players fell to their knees at full time. With another two points dropped and Totti's injury it's over.

Attendance : 33,000
Assists : Pizarro, Diamanti (won pen)

16 April 2008

JUVENTUS 3 (Trezeguet 16, Palladino 30, Morrone 76 og)
PARMA 0

Trezeguet tapped Juve into the lead after Bucci fumbled a corner. Palladino mugged Zenoni on the right flank before rifling a shot past Bucci from a wide angle. Morrone scored a spectacular own goal from 25 yards, heading Tiago's cross over Bucci.

This match was rearranged from last month following the accidental death of 28 year old Parma supporter, Matteo Bagnaresi. It turns out Bagnaresi was the subject of a banning order (for hooliganism) and explains why his death didn't get the same level of attention or sympathy as the tragic death of Gabriele Sandri back in November 2007.
