Right full back Rivalta received possession 30 yards from goal, switched the ball onto his left foot and surprised Campagnolo, who was almost certainly expecting a cross, with a shot which bounced inside his left post. Langella doubled Atalanta's lead in the first minute of the second half after Guarante robbed a defender in his own half and put him clear on goal. Atalanta's lazy offside trap opened the door for the comeback, Vigiani beating Coppola with a near post volley. Vigiani ran onto a longball out of defence before centring for Barreto to equalise.

Hamsik gave Napoli, who haven't won since early December, the lead with a near post tap-in. Napoli's second choice goalkeeper Gianello spilled a shot from Jeda, who arrived in the transfer window, and Matri tapped in the rebound. Conti completed a remarkable comeback when he headed in a Foggia free kick.

Fiorentina maintained their annoying habit of scoring late thanks to a freak goal. Empoli defender Marzoratti's tried to whack clear a free kick, the ball hit Mutu's shoulder and bounced over Bassi. Gobbi dribbled through the Empoli defence before threading a pass to Pazzini who ended a two month goal drought with a splendid first time lob over the advancing Bassi.

Maldini played a one-two with Pirlo on the left flank before swinging a left footed cross into the box, Seedorf flicked to ball across to Pato who beat Rubinho with a superbly placed header. Rubinho was sent off for handling outside his area under pressure for Pato and the youngster got his first brace for Milan with a 50 yard run which he almost ruined with a poor finish but Genoa's reserve goalkeeper spilled his initial shot and he tapped in the second on the rebound.

Zanetti lobbed a ball over the top of the Livorno defence, Trezeguet peeled off his marker and swung a right foot volley past Amelia. Nedved sent Del Piero clear of a Livorno defence playing a ridiculously high line to score Juve's second. Trezeguet finished off a lovely move just past the hour mark for his 15th goal of the season. Palladino drilled a centre into the box, Trezeguet stepped over the ball, Del Piero hit a first time lob into the box and Trezeguet blasted a right foot volley rasping into the net. Bogdani punished sloppy defending in the Juve box to grab Livorno's consolation goal.

This was played behind closed days as 'punishment' for Atalanta fans forcing the abandonment of the original tie. Milan took an early lead from a corner, Doni deflecting a Gattuso effort into his own net. Shortly after Pato missed an absolute sitter Atalanta equalised. Doni flicked on Adriano's cross to Langella, Nesta threw himself at the ball, missing completely Langella fired low inside the near post. Simone Inzaghi pounced on a dreadful mistake from Kaladze to make the winner for Tissone.
