PALERMO

Barzagli 32 (og)

Di Michele 8

Mutu 87

Amauri 80, 91

Amauri showed incredible balance and strength to fight off Ujfalusi and Dainelli
on the left flank and after breaking free he chipped a ball into the box, the
bounce took it wide but Di Michele finished superbly with a low volley into the
bottom left corner. Pasqual forced the equaliser when 'Jimmy' Fontana parried
his cross against the back of Barzagli. The next 50 or so minutes were off the
charts with both teams, but the home side in particular, creating chance after
chance. Palermo struck the woodwork once, Fiorentina twice. Amauri put Palermo
back in front with a tremendous header. Mutu, who had a deflected free kick
tipped onto a post, looked to have earned Fiorentina a point when he tapped in
Montolivo's centre but Amauri struck in injury time with another superb goal. He
chased down a longball and beat Dainelli and Reginaldo on the left flank before
firing a right foot shot into the bottom left corner. GAME OF THE SEASON.

If Amauri keeps playing like this he could win a call-up to the Brazil squad,
especially as Dunga has shown a willingness to experiment and reward players
regardless of where they play. Just to show how impressive his performance was
he was given a 9 by the Italian highlights show which is almost unheard of.

CHIEVO

Rigano 45

Tiribocchi 33

Floccari 94

Chievo scored a brilliant opening goal. With his back to play Tiribocchi flicked
a cross over the head of a defender, Pellissier volleyed it back into his path
and Tiribocchi let the ball bounce once before half volleying inside a post.
Rigano equalised on half time after turning in Floccari's flick on at the far
post. Rigano returned the favour by cheating down De Vezze's cross for Floccari
to blast in a last second winner.

CATANIA 1-1

TORINO

Spinesi 20 (Pen)

Franceschini 85

Caserta won a penalty with the most blatant dive of the season. Mascara was sent
off for throwing an elbow on Cioffi, who was wearing a protective mask for a
fractured cheekbone. Shortly after Abbiati made a fantastic save from Caserta
Torino equalised from a free kick. Gallo swung a cross towards the back post and
Franceschini thundered a volley past a helpless Pantanelli.

Doni 58

Muslimovic 88

Morfeo chipped a ball into the box, centre back Rivalta left the ball for his
'keeper only when Calderoni went to pick it up he crashed into Rivalta and
missed the ball leaving Budan with a tap-in. Doni equalised with an excellent
near post volley from Bombardini's driven cross. The referee, Herber, made the
world handball decision of all time when pointing to the spot after Budan's shot
struck defender Loria in his stomach. Grieco converted and Muslimovic
capitalised on Bellini's slip to complete the robbery.

MILAN 3-4

INTER

Materazzi 50 (og)

Crespo 17

Gilardino 76

Stankovic 23

Kaka' 90

Ibrahimovic 47

Materazzi 68

Crespo gave Inter the lead with a fantastic header inside a packed penalty area
from Stankovic's in-swinging free kick. Maicon made a run down the right before
knocking the ball infield to Stankovic, he took one touch to bring it under
control with his left foot then with his right curled inside Dida's right hand
post.

Man of the match Stankovic broke on a rapid counter attack and played the ball
out wide to Ibrahimovic and despite Maldini's sliding tackle he managed to keep
his balance and scored thanks largely to weak handling by Dida. Seedorf gave
Milan a glimmer of hope when his speculative shot took a massive deflection off
Materazzi. Materazzi took advantage of slack marking on a free kick to score
Inter's fourth and was then shown a second yellow for pulling his shirt over his
head as he celebrated. Gilardino finally ended his goal drought with a header
from Cafu's cross. Minutes after making a fantastic save from Seedorf, Julio
Cesar rushed off his line to punch out a Cafu cross but didn't get enough
distance and Kaka', standing just inside the box, sent a volley sailing over his
head into an empty net. Oliveira almost snatched an equaliser but his header
bounced wide of the right post.

You have to hand it to Inter after 9 weeks of the season they've beaten all but
one of the 'top teams' i.e. Fiorentina, Roma and now Milan. Don't be surprised to
see Lippi sitting on the Milan bench if they have another month like this (1 win,
2 draws and 2 defeats).
