ASCOLI 2-5

MILAN

Di Biagio 33 (Pen)

Gilardino 3, 27

Guberti 41

Kaka' 25 (Pen), 35

Seedorf 75

Ascoli needed a good start if they had any hopes of getting something from this
match and needless to say they didn't get one. The defence tried to play offside
as Seedorf chipped a ball into the box, Ronaldo flicked the ball over the head
of a defender and Gilardino volleyed into the corner. Ronaldo broke on the
counter and carried the ball 50 yards before Eleftheropoulos floored him to
concede a penalty. He looked absolutely wasted when he got to his feet. After
Kaka' successfully converted the spot kick Gilardino got on the end of a
Jankulovski cross to head in Milan's third. Guberti suckered the ref into
awarding a penalty and Di Biagio reduced the arrears from the sport. Two minutes
later Kaka' intercepted a half cleared corner before turning and crashing a
right foot shot beyond Eleftheropoulos. Guberti collected the ball from a throw
in, jinked his way between two defenders and everyone watched his low shot
bobble into the corner. Pirlo chipped a delightful pass into Seedorf and
Eleftheropoulos' mad rush off his line allowed the Dutchman to lob in the fifth.

Milan have opened up a four point gap over Palermo and should push Lazio all the
way for third place.

EMPOLI 2-0

ATALANTA

Saudati 35

Almiron 54

The excellent Vannucchi, Empoli's equivalent of Zola, chipped a cross into the
box from out wide on the left flank, with his back to goal Saudati pulled the
ball down before blasting a scissor kick into the bottom corner, great goal.
Bellini was harshly sent off on half time for either a headbutt or elbow on
Pozzi though in truth all he did was attack a cross. Busce ran from the half way
line into the box before pulling the ball across goal, Talamonti should have
cleared but missed leaving Almiron with a tap-in. Almiron blasted a penalty
straight at Bassi shortly before Vieri made his long awaited (if you support
Atalanta) return to first team action almost exactly a year after he picked up
an injury when playing for Monaco.

Attendance : 4,000
Red Card : Bellini 45 (Atalanta)

INTER 1-3

ROMA

Materazzi 52 (Pen)

Perrotta 44

Figo 89 (og)

Cassetti 94

Roma went balls to the wall at Inter right from the off. Julio Cesar parried
from Totti and Maicon made a brilliant clearance as Perrotta seemed certain to
score on the rebound. It took Inter 37 minutes to put the Roma goal under press,
Stankovic crashing a speculative shot against the bar. At the other end Cesar
made a stunning save to tip a Mancini shot against the post just before Roma
took the lead. De Rossi intercepted a poor Materazzi clearance and threaded a
pass between two defenders to Chivu who had made an overlapping run down the
left flank, he rolled the ball to the back post and Perrotta tapped in.

Referee Trefoloni got Inter back on track with a fabrication of a penalty after
Adriano threw himself over Doni. After Materazzi converted it was all one way
traffic. Doni made a stunning one handed save down to his left, tipping
Adriano's low header onto a post. One of the saves of the season. Ibrahimovic,
standing unmarked at the back post, blazed wide after Stankovic hammered a
driven cross into the box. Doni made another great save, this time from
Stankovic and Maicon, probably the best wing back in the World, flashed a shot
wide of a post. Roma were on the way to escaping with a point until Cambiasso
body checked De Rossi on a rare attack. Totti slammed his free kick into the
wall and it took a deflection off Figo leaving Cesar rooted to the spot. In the
last minute of injury time De Rossi sold Figo with a dummy before playing in
Cassetti to score a flattering third.

This was supposed to Inter's coronation but Roma spoilt the party. That's one
loss (their first of the season) and two draws in their last three games.
They're missing Vieira but it's doesn't matter as another two wins guarantees
them a second successive scudetto. They won't win a third.

Suazo 61 (Pen)

Knezevic 67

Cesar threaded a pass to Morrone who miss-controlled due to a deflection off a
defender, the ball rolled onto the end of Lucarelli's left foot and he side
footed past Chimenti. Pavan rugby tackled Suazo to concede the game tying
penalty but 6 minutes later Knezevic met a Fiore free kick with an absolute
bullet of a header.

REGGINA 3-1

MESSINA

Bianchi 13

Rigano 27 (Pen)

Amoruso 54, 72 (Pen)

Reggina got a lucky break on 13 minutes. Amoruso's speculative shot took a
deflection off a Messina player and landed at Amerini's feet, Eleftheropoulos
saved and Bianchi knocked in goal #17 of the season. Messina got themselves
level with a bollocks of a penalty. Bianchi passed out wide to Modesto and
Amoruso met his first time cross with a terrific diving header at the near post.
Morello gave away a penalty for a messy challenge on Amoruso and earned himself
a red card for taking his protests too far. Amoruso smacked the ball into the
bottom corner.

If anyone is going to scupper Reggina's survival hopes it's probably Parma who
have a much easier run in. Chievo's recent form gives both teams hope.

PARMA 2-0

FIORENTINA

Rossi 27, 89 (Pen)

Budan turned onto a ball before playing in Rossi with a perfectly weighted pass,
Rossi waited for Potenza to slid in, took a kick on the ankles and remarkably
didn't go down, then toe poked past fat man Frey in the Fiorentina goal. Dessena
took a tumble in the box under a legit challenge from Pasqual, immediately
appealed to the ref for a penalty and he obliged. Rossi took his tally to 6 in
12 games from the penalty spot.
