ROMA 3-1

FIORENTINA

De Rossi 37

Ujfalusi 14

Taddei 49, 67

Despite the absence of Toni it was the visitors who took the lead when Ujfalusi
punished poor defending on a corner. De Rossi caught an increasingly fat looking Frey
by surprise with a speculative shot from distance which he should have saved or at the
very least parried. Another mistake gave Roma the lead, Kroldrup's poor header fell
straight onto the right boot of Taddei, 2-1. Given how Fiorentina were defending it was
a surprise it took Roma so long to score a third, Taddei fired Panucci's deflected cross
under the legs of Frey.

ATALANTA 2-0

MILAN

Ventola 50

Soncin 92

Migilaccio headed on Calderoni's goalkick, Ventola stole a yard on Simic and rifled a
half volley past Dida from 25 yards. Milan were ‘awarded' a penalty for a foul on
Gourcuff, even though an Atalanta player had put the ball into his own net then the
ref changed his mind and gave Gourcuff a yellow card for diving. BULLSHIT. Kaka'
missed an open goal and in injury time Soncin made Maldini look like the old man he
is with a sidestep inside the box before finding the top left corner of the net with a nice
curling shot which may have taken a deflection off Simic.

I expect Ancelotti will be given a vote of confidence any time now. He's lost this team
and it's time for a change. Whether Milan will be brave enough to get rid of him now
and hire Lippi, the only logical (and available) option is another matter.

EMPOLI 1-1

LAZIO

Vannucchi 87

Pandev 17

Lazio caught Empoli on the break with a rapid counter attack, Quadri sent Pandev
clear  on the half way and he baited Balli into going down early before lobbing the
ball over him. Cribari was sent off for a horrible studs up foul on Pratali. The theatrics
of Mudingayi and Mutarelli allowed Lazio to claim a one man advantage of their own.
It would have been a travesty if Lazio got three points from this match and justice
was served when three minutes from time Vannucchi bounced a poor headed
clearance off his knee before ripping a volley into the net.

Red Cards : Cribari 72 (Lazio), Ficini 75 (Empoli), Almiron 85 (Empoli)

INTER 2-0

ASCOLI

Zanetti 41

Cudini 53 og

The away side arguably had the better of the first half chances but a superb run by
Ibrahimovic helped set-up a rare goal for Zanetti. Cudini turned Figo's centre into his
own net and Julio Cesar saved a penalty from Fini.

PALERMO 2-0

SAMPDORIA

35 og

Zaccardo 70

Castelazzi made two fantastic saves against a rampant Palermo side before he was
beaten by a deflected free kick. Zaccardo tapped in Palermo's second following a
goalmouth scramble.

For once Jimmy had a very quiet afternoon in the Palermo goal. Palermo should use
the transfer window to strengthen the team, they won't get a better chance to finish
second.

SIENA 2-2

PARMA

Bogdani 72, 92

Morfeo 35

Budan 70

Siena defender headed corner to back post, Morfeo controlled the ball on his chest
before lashing it into the roof of the net. Muslimovic put Budan in on goal from the left
flank but he botched the finish, shooting straight at Manninger however he dived late
and the ball bounced off him into the net. Bogdani reduced the arrears when he turned
in Chiesa's deflected cross. Lucia made a brilliant save from a free kick and Siena's
prospects of getting a point seemed to be over when Molinaro dragged a shot wide of
the post after Chiesa played him in with a back heel however in injury time Paci failed
to deal with a long ball into the box, Chiesa passed wide to Cozza, Lucia saved his
shot but Bogdani was on hand to poke in the rebound and earn his coach, Mario
Beretta, a point against his former club.
