ASCOLI 1-1

UDINESE

Fini 18

Vidigal 88

Zanini touched a free kick to Fini and he shot straight through the middle of
the Udinese wall and De Sanctis let the ball slip through his fingers. Vidigal
tapped in a rebound after Di Michele forced a save from Coppola.

Assists : Zanini (fk), n/a

CAGLIARI 1-1

LIVORNO

Suazo 51 (Pen)

Melara 75

Having been booked in the first half for diving, Swayze was awarded a penalty
when two defenders sandwiched him in the box. Cagliari should have won this
comfortably but bad defending on a corner cost them what should have been
their first win of the season.

Attendance : 14,000
Assists : Suazo (won pen), Ruotolo (ck)

EMPOLI 1-3

MILAN

Costacurta 34 (og)

Gilardino 46, 50

Vieri 55

Vannucchi tried his luck from 30 yards and Costacurta deflected his shot past Dida.
Gilardino turned the tide with a quick brace either side of half time. He got in front
of his marker to stab in Kaladze's centre and headed Milan into the lead from a
superb Rui Costa cross. Vieri broke his Milan duck with another header.

Attendance : 10,000
Assists : Kaladze, Rui Costa, Seedorf

INTER 2-3

ROMA

Adriano 67, 77

Montella 12

Totti 30, 47 (Pen)

This was a major surprise given Roma's abysmal away form. Montella stunned
the San Siro faithful who were no doubt, like the rest of us, expecting a routine
home victory, when he flew past Samuel to tap in Taddei's centre. Shortly after
Cruz headed against the underside of the crossbar Totti scored a magnificent
second. He ran from the half way line cutting in from the left flank and as
the Inter defence backed off he hit a beautiful lob over Cesar. Montella should get
a three match ban for the dive which gave Roma their second half penalty.
Adriano gave the scoreline some respectability with a monstrous free kick which
flew in off a post and a tap-in after goalkeeper Doni caught a cross then dropped
the ball in a crowded penalty area. Veron walked for grabbing Totti by the throat
and Totti walked for his playacting.

Attendance : 52,000
Red Cards : Totti 93 (Roma), Veron 93 (Inter)
Assists : Taddei, n/a, Montella (won pen), ? (won fk), n/a

JUVENTUS 2-0

SAMPDORIA

Trezeguet 41
Mutu 57

Trezeguet punished Castellini's awful attempt at clearing a corner to give Juve
the lead just before the break. Mutu scored a brilliant second. Del Piero who
was standing about 30 yards from goal flicked Emerson's pass high in the air,
Trezeguet bounced the ball off his chest and laid it back to Mutu who burst into
the box and shut under Antonioli.

Attendance : 30,000
Assists : n/a, Trezeguet

LAZIO 2-2

CHIEVO

Rocchi 32

D'Anna 48

Oddo 92 (Pen)

Pellissier 66

Pandev headed on a cross and Rocchi, who was being held back, resisted the urge to
go down and poked the ball into the net. D'Anna headed in the equaliser from
a corner and Pellissier hammered home a second following more bad set piece
defending. Chievo captain D'Anna pissed away the points with a stupid handball.

Attendance : 25,000
Assists : Pandev, Semioli (ck), Amauri, n/a

PALERMO 3-0

LECCE

Bonanni 35
Mutarelli 62
Ferri 90

Bonanni stepped inside Zoro before letting rip with a shot that Sicignano
should have saved. Mutarelli doubled Palermo's advantage with a tremendous
strike that crashed in off the underside of the crossbar. Ferri, on as a substitute
for Santana, finished off a nice four man passing move to give Palermo their first
win in four games. Santoni, who has been responsible for most of the goals Palermo
have conceded recently, was dropped in favour of Andujar but he wasn't tested.

Attendance : 27,000
Red Cards : Corini 86 (Palermo)
Assists : Corini, Santana, Caracciolo

PARMA 1-1

MESSINA

Simplicio 36

Muslimovic 76

Simplicio received a pass from Morfeo and opened a gap with fast dummy before
drilling the ball into the bottom corner. Muslimovic profited from some atrocious
defending from a corner to equalise.

Attendance : 12,000
Assists : Morfeo, D'Agostino (ck)

REGGINA 1-2

TREVISO

Missiroli 86

Beghetto 17

Parravicini 77

Beghetto met Filippini's corner with a fantastic header. Filippini hit a dipping
cross to the back post and Parravicini stole a march on a defender and poked the
ball into the bottom corner. Missiroli grabbed a late consolation goal with a
stunning right foot volley.

Attendance : 10,000
Assists : A Filippini (ck), A Filippini, n/a

SIENA 0-2

FIORENTINA

Toni 2, 67

The first Tuscan derby of the season brought together the best two attacks, two of the
top strikers and the only two teams who had failed to keep a clean sheet. For some
season De Canio left Chiesa and Locatelli on the bench. Toni headed in his 10th goal
of the season from a second minute corner and his 11th from a rebound after
Jorgensen struck a post.

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Pasqual, n/a
