CAGLIARI 1-1

JUVENTUS

Suazo 45 (Pen)

Cannavaro 95

Cannavaro conceded the penalty with a sloppy challenge on Langella. Suazo sent
Buffon the wrong way. He could have scored another a minute later but having got
past Cannavaro took a dive instead of heading for goal. Ayroldi gave Juve a bullshit
penalty. Chimenti, who was at Juve during the first half of the season, saved
Del Piero's spot kick. Cannavaro headed in a last second equaliser from a corner, the
second consecutive week in which Cagliari have threw points away at the death which
explains their fury at the ref and two red cards.

Juve's football has got progressively worse in recent weeks, they are now almost
totally reliant on long balls and set pieces but then over the past two seasons Milan
have played the football and Juve have won scudetto.

Remaining fixtures :

JUVENTUS : Lazio (H), Siena (A), Palermo (H), Reggina (A)
MILAN : Messina (A), Livorno (H), Parma (A), Roma (H)

Milan's last two matches are a killer. Milan have come back from similar situations
in the past to win league titles but on both occasions (1988 & 1999) they beat the
league leaders to turn the tide, that didn't happen this time.

Attendance : 20,000
Red Cards : Abeijon 95 (Cagliari), Langella 95 (Cagliari)
Assists : Langella (won pen), Camoranesi (ck)

CHIEVO 2-0

MESSINA

Semioli 15

Obinna 92 (Pen)

Amauri headed on a ball to Pellissier, he held off Rezai before firing a cross into the box
and Semioli scored via a double deflection off Storari and Innocenti. Messina had nearly
all of the play but kept missing chances. Obinna won and converted an injury time
penalty.

Attendance : 5,500
Red Card : Mandelli 55 (Chievo)
Assist : n/a, Obinna (won pen)

EMPOLI 2-1

SIENA

Tosto 36

Bogdani 87

Tavano 39

Vannucchi hit an outswinging corner, everyone missed it and bounced towards the
edge of the box, Tosto took a touch to control it then cracked a shot in off a post.
Tavano brought a long ball under control, took a step inside a defender and from
25 yards sent the ball curling wide of Mirante in the Siena goal. A couple of Empoli
f
ans held aloft a banner calling for his inclusion in the Italy squad. I don't fancy his
chances. In any other European team he'd be a shoe in. Balli made three
World Class saves before Bogdani headed in his 11th of the season. Molinaro almost
snatched a point at the death but his shot came back off a post.

Attendance : 6,000
Assist : Vannucchi (ck), Moro, n/a

LAZIO 3-1

LIVORNO

Oddo 20 (Pen)

Colucci 52

Pandev 55, 72

Pfertzel pushed Pandev to concede a penalty. Lazio paid the price for taking their foot
off the gas. Colucci equalised after a period of sustained pressure with a tap-in after
Peruzzi spilled a shot. Pandev restored Lazio's lead with a flick header from a superb
Oddo cross. Vargas' absolutely rubbish clearance gifted Pandev a second. Vargas took
out his frustrations by kicking Pandev from behind, an earning himself an early bath.

Attendance : 28,000
Red Card : Vargas 82 (Livorno)
Assist : Pandev (won pen), n/a, Oddo, n/a

LECCE 1-2

UDINESE

Giacomazzi 38

Barreto 25

Stovini 59 (og)

Rossini rode a tackle from a defender and passing out wide to Obodo, Barreto, given a
ridiculous amount of space by the Lecce defence, blasted the midfielders cross past
Sicignano. Babu appeared to foul Muntari on the right wing but the ref let it go, Babu
ran the line before pulling the ball back to the edge of the box and Giacomazzi
thumped the ball into the back of the net. Di Natale 'headed' in the winner via a
handball off Stovini.

Udinese coach Galeone was so happy with the win at full time he lit up a cigarette,
pervert.

Attendance : 10,400
Assist : Obodo, Babu, n/a

PALERMO 3-3

ROMA

Di Michele 50

Taddei 23

Barone 52, 79

Mancini 29 (Pen), 30

Both teams had spurned a dozen chances between them (and I'm not exaggerating)
when Taddei beat Agliardi with a terrible shot. Palermo were playing a high offside
trap and getting continually caught. On one such occasion Taddei ran at Agliardi and
tried to go round but Agliardi grabbed his shorts so the ref pointed to the spot.
Taddei won the ball immediately after the re-start from the goal, passed to Aquilani
and he threaded a ball trough to Mancini, he rounded the 'keeper and tapped into an
empty net. Palermo had already gone close to reducing the arrears in the first half
before giving Roma a taste of their own medicine and were hit by two brilliant quick
goals. Di Michele took out De Rossi with a feint then curled the ball inside the top
corner. Barone made it 2-3 with a spectacular low diving header from a stupid angle.
Godeas headed down a loose ball and Barone leapt in the air to hit a stunning right
foot overhead kick into the bottom corner.

Great game, shocking, shocking defending.

Attendance : 27,855
Assist : Aquilani, Taddei (won pen), Aquilani, Codrea, Brienza (ck), Godeas

REGGINA 2-0

ASCOLI

De Rosa 10
Amoruso 27

Ascoli failed to clear a corner and Mesto sent a cross sailing over Coppola and De Rosa
headed into an empty net. Lanzaro hit a great crossfield pass to Vigiani and as he
knocked the ball forward two defenders immediately appealed for offside with
Amoruso standing alone in front of goal, 2-0. Reggina already had two penalty
appeals turned down before the ref turned away another one for a blatant handball.

With 38 points on the board both teams are almost certainly safe, I can't imagine
Messina pulling back a 7 point deficit with four games to go.

Attendance : 11,500
Assists : Mesto, Vigiani

SAMPDORIA 1-2

PARMA

Sala 39

Corradi 52 (Pen)

Bresciano 90

Midget Bucci, who has been excellent for Parma in recent weeks, flapped at a free kick,
Flachi fired a volley at goal and Sala turned in from close range. Bonera, I'm not sure
what he was doing inside the box, took a dive under pressure from Diana, who looked
on in disbelief when the ref pointed to the spot. Parma's brilliant wide men combined
to score a last minute winner. Marchionni controlled a deep cross on his chest before
flicking the ball away from a defender and firing it back across goal, Bresciano took a
couple of steps before whacking it into the top right corner.

Sampdoria coach Walter Novellino was almost in tears at full time but he's still in a job.
I can't imagine Bresciano will be at Parma next season, I expect he'll end up at
Fiorentina or Lazio, if they find the money.

Attendance : 22,000
Assist : Flachi, Bonera (won pen), Marchionni

TREVISO 1-3

FIORENTINA

Borriello 39

Toni 25

Brocchi 49

Montolivo 84

Treviso lined up to defend a corner with a man marking the near post yet it still wasn't
enough to stop Toni heading in goal #28. Toni missed an open goal after the 'keeper
dropped a cross.  Three former Milan players were involved in the next two goals.
Boriello stole the ball off Donadel and, after playing a one-two with Vascak, finished
with a right foot volley. Zoncope was twice beaten from distance though should have
done better on Brocchi's shot.

Attendance : 7,547
Assists : Pasqual (ck), Vascak, Toni, Brocchi

14 April 2006

MILAN 1-0

INTER

Kaladze 70

The first half was terrible. Dida, who had an awful game, got away with murder after
dropping what should have been a routine catch at Cambiasso's feet. In the second
half his possible replacement in the Brazil goal at the World Cup, Cesar, made
excellent saves from Seedorf and Kaka'. Figo, not exactly known for being good
in the air, easily escaped the attentions of Maldini but headed Stankovic's cross
way wide of a post. Zanetti headed clear another poor free kick by Pirlo, who should
have been benched weeks ago, Nesta volleyed the ball to Seedorf, he hit a sky high
cross into the box, Kaladze took the ball on his chest before lashing a left foot
half volley into the roof of the net, excellent finish. Dida dropped another ball but
once again Cambiasso failed to take advantage.

Attendance : 74,137
Assist : Seedorf
