CAGLIARI 1-1

LAZIO

Esposito 70

Siviglia 92

Everyone's favourite fascist Paolo Di Canio was back in the starting line-up and missed
two great first half chances. Cagliari were killing Lazio with their pace but had to wait
until the second half before taking the lead. Budel chipped a ball over the top of the
Lazio defence and Esposito blasted the ball into the bottom corner. Deep into injury
time Oddo struck an amazing free kick from 35 yards out wide right, the ball sailed
over the Cagliari defence and dipped right onto Bazzani's head and Siviglia nodded
his flick on past Iezzo.

Attendance : 14,000
Assists : Budel, Bazzani

FIORENTINA 1-1

MESSINA

Dainelli 60

Di Napoli 95

Dainelli headed Fiorentina into a deserved lead from Miccoli's free kick. Miccoli was
substituted shortly after hitting the crossbar. Fantini, who replaced him, was partly
to blame for the late equaliser when he failed to get tight on Di Napoli as he latched
onto a knockdown before shooting past Cejas who inexplicably found himself back
in goal.

Attendance : 28,000
Red Cards : Maggio 90 (Fiorentina), Zoro 94 (Messina)
Assists : Miccoli (fk), Rafael

JUVENTUS 0-1

INTER

Cruz 24

Ibrahimovic was really fired up for this one. He left Cordoba needing a bandage after
an early clash of heads when jumping for a ball then nutted Mihajlovic when both
players were face to face on the turf following a tussle. From a Nedved corner
Emerson saw his header cannon back off the underside of the crossbar. Cruz jumped
above Cannavaro to meet Ze Maria's free kick, Buffon dived and seemed to forget to
catch the ball. Terrible mistake. I've been saying for two years he makes bad
mistakes and people still think I make this things up. At the other end Inter's much
maligned goalkeeper punched away Birindelli's free kick.

Cruz wasted Inter's only other chance with a poor attempt at a lob on a counter attack.
Ibrahimovic struck the outside of a post with a magnificent, curling left foot half volley.
It would have been goal of the season. He had another brilliant effort saved by Toldo
then appeared to floor Cordoba in an off the ball incident although it looked like a
dive. Inter survived half a dozen or so desperate penalty appeals as Juve ran out of
ideas.

Attendance : 25,000
Assist : Ze Maria (fk)

LECCE 1-1

BOLOGNA

Giacomazzi 20

Bellucci 42

Vucinic received the ball with his back to goal but the Bologna defence were distracted
by Konan, who was standing miles offside, as they appealed Vucinic floated a cross to
the back post and Giacomazzi hammered a right foot volley past Pagliuca. From a
free kick Cassetti hammered the ball through the wall but Pagliuca made a brilliant
save. As is typical with Lecce their offside trap once again proved to be their downfall
and also proves Zednek Zeman is a big, big idiot. Four players were standing in and
around the penalty area when a clearance was sliced back into their box. Two of
them ran out trying to play Bellucci offside, their hands went up, the linesman's flag
didn't, 1-1. Eremenko was booked for diving after Torrisi tripped him in the box.

Attendance : 10,984
Assists : Vucinic, n/a

PALERMO 3-3

BRESCIA

Terlizzi 14

Wome 17

Toni 49 (Pen), 79

Di Biagio 21 (Pen)

Caracciolo 85

Terlizzi headed Palermo in front from Corini's free kick. Wome followed up his superb
goal against Milan with an even better effort, a sensational 30 yard free kick with
crashed into the top corner. Biava pulled down Zambrella to concede a penalty. For
the second game in a row Di Biagio had to re-take the sport kick for encroachment
and he only just scored, via a deflection off Guardalben. I don't believe Di Biagio has
missed a penalty since the 1998 World Cup quarter-finals. Brienza conned Rosetti into
awarding Dallamano a second yellow with an excellent dive, on first viewing given
the way he fell I was convinced it was a foul. However the next passage of play would
have convinced Brescia Rosetti was doing his best to screw them. As Stankevicius ran
forward to take a pass out of defence Rosetti body checked him, Corini took
possession then swung the ball into the box, Toni dived, penalty. Toni converted.
Guardalben made an excellent, point blank save from Stankevicius. Terlizzi was sent
off for bringing down Serie A's only Lithuanian international (they'll be a flood of them
next season). Toni headed Palermo into the lead but Brescia's own giant won them a
point on a counter attack when he stayed onside to tap in Martinez's center.

Attendance : 33,000
Red Cards : Dallamano 26 (Brescia), Terlizzi 69 (Palermo)
Assists : Corini (fk), Milaneto (fk), Zambrella (won pen), Toni (won pen), Zauli, Martinez

PARMA 1-1

SAMPDORIA

Gilardino 39

Gasbarroni 35

It was absolutely pissing down. Pisanu played a one-two with Kutuzov before stepping
away from Cordoba and centring into the box, Gasbarroni arrived to poke past Frey.
Gilardinho didn't make the best of connections with Simplicio's free kick but his header
was perfectly placed.

Attendance : 14,170
Assists : Pisanu, Simplicio (fk)

ROMA 0-2

SIENA

Maccarone 60

Chiesa 87

Roma were in total control but failed to take their chances. Alberto ran from the half
way line, turned inside Chivu, sending him crashing to the ground and centred for
Maccarone to tap in. Chiesa finished brilliantly from Maccarone's pass. Totti was
booked for trying to kick Tudor, Tudor should have been sent off for first pushing
Totti back then slapping his face. Totti's second yellow card was for an apparent
punch on Colonnese. It looked like a clear dive.

Attendance : 40,000
Red Card : Totti 69 (Roma)
Assists : Alberto, Maccarone

UDINESE 1-1

LIVORNO

Mauri 8

C Lucarelli 86

A one touch passing moved ended with Mauri giving Udinese an early lead. Di Michele
slipped a pass through to Jankulovski and his centre was stabbed into the net by
Mauri. Vigiani chipped the ball into the box and Lucarelli bravely jumped for it as
De Sanctis flew out of his box with his first aimed at the strikers header, he missed,
1-1.

Attendance : 14,000
Assists : Jankulovski, Vigiani
