This had draw written all
over it but an early goal opened up the match, at least in the first half. Veron almost did something right, he blasted a free kick straight at Palermo's 'keeper but the normally reliable Guardalden parried the ball into the air and Vieri was quick to react and headed into the net. Grosso provided Palermo's only notable effort with an extraordinarily hard shot from Corini's lay-off which Toldo miraculously tipped around a post. Biavi went through the back of Stankovic and as the defender rose to his feet Stankovic kicked him. The coward Trefolini, who had already booked Stankovic, saw the incident and did nothing. Stankovic then laid on the second goal for Vieri who scored with his right foot! Better not mention the World Cup, or Euro 2004. Mancini denied Vieri the chance of a hat-trick by substituting him on 76 minutes. Palermo's slow attack didn't give the equally slow Inter defence any problems. Attendance : 35,000 Assists : n/a, Stankovic |

Calderoni kept out
Trezeguet's stunning volley with an equally stunning save. Calderoni rushed off his line to intercept a through pass from Emerson which was missed by his defence but Olivera lobbed first time into the net, brilliant finish. Camoranesi's dive won substitute Del Piero a penalty. In injury time Thuram snuffed out an attack and rolled a back pass to Buffon who tried to control it but missed the ball and it bobbled into net. Best goalkeeper in the World my arse. Attendance : 17,000 Assists : Emerson, Camoranesi (won pen), n/a |

Dhorasoo had a goal
disallowed for no reason whatsoever and Brazilian's Kaka' and Serginho missed easy chances. A superb move down Milan's left gave Bologna the win. A midfielder pressed Dhorasoo into losing the ball and Bellucci back heeled to Locatelli before spinning away, as Gattuso and Stam closed down Locatelli he slipped the ball into Zagorakis who in turn back heeled to Locatelli and the former Milan player shot into the bottom corner. Milan's chances of a comeback ended when Shevchenko left the field with what looked like an ankle injury on 42 minutes. Crespo and Kaka' missed chances in the second half and Cafu was unlucky not to score when his shot deflected wide of a post. An examination revealed a tear in Shevchenko's right tibial muscle. He could be out of action for 2 months. If Gilardino isn't signed sometime on Monday Milan's only chance of silverware this season will be the Coppa Italia. Attendance : 56,756 Assist : Locatelli |

REGGINA | 2-1 |
LAZIO |
Bonazzoli 72 |
Cesar 10 |
|
De Rosa 93 |
|
|
Lazio have struggled in recent weeks but Cesar gave them the perfect start by finishing off a superb counter attack. Rocchi flicked Oddo's longball onto Bazzani who returned the pass, the tiny striker found Cesar bursting down the left with a superbly weighted ball, Cesar skipped Mesto's tackled, if he went down it would have been a penalty and red card, and shot into the corner after Pavarni left his far post exposed. Reggina were all over Lazio and only some desperate defending kept the visitors in front before Cesar pissed away the three points. Cesar and Paredes went in for a 50-50 ball, both players ended up on the turf and in full view of the referee Cesar kicked the midfielder twice. For this he only earned a yellow card. A few minutes later he kicked Nakamura, second yellow, early bath. A stunning goal-line clearance by Mesto prevented Rocchi from scoring what would have been a thoroughly undeserved second. Reggina created enough chances to win three matches but Peruzzi was saving everything. He was finally beaten by Bonazzoli's flick header. Manfredini almost won the game for Lazio on the break but his shot came back off a post. In the third minute of injury time Lazio failed to clear a corner, Reggina's set piece delivery was superb throughout, Bonazzoli hammered a left foot volley at goal, the ball cannoned off De Rosa's thigh past Peruzzi. He certainly didn't deserve to finish on the losing side but his team-mates sucked. Fantastic match. Attendance : 15,000 Red Card : Cesar 36 (Lazio) Assists : Rocchi, Balestri, Bonazzoli |

Cassano 60 |
Parisi 32 |

Mancini 81 | ||
Roma gained revenge over
Messina who beat them 4-3 in September. Zampagna, who scored the winner in that match, volleyed Messina into the lead after a combination of good work by Iliev and horrible defending by Roma. Cassano gave Cufre a tongue lashing for his part in the goal. Had anyone at the club watched how useless he was during his loan spell at Siena last season they would have got rid of him long ago. Parisi doubled Messina's advantage with a shot from 35 yards, catching Zotti out at his near post. Despite being surrounded by three players Cassano managed to make space before sending a cross into the box, Montella pulled down the ball down and Totti volleyed into the net. The trio combined again for the equaliser. Montella intercepted a hospital pass and laid the ball off to Totti, a beautiful chipped pass dropped over Cassano's shoulder, he waited for the ball to bounce before blasting past Storari. Roma were now creating chances at will. Cassano wasted two and Storari saved brilliantly from Mancini. Montella looked for a one-two with Mancini but the Brazilian had other ideas, he feigned to shoot with his right, taking out the keeper and three defenders, then did a drag back and shot with his left, the prone Storari had no chance. Attendance : 47,000 Assists : Iliev, Donati, Montella, Totti, Montella |

SAMPDORIA | 1-1 |
SIENA |
Rossini 79 |
Vergassola 66 |

Having dominated the
entire match Samp fell victim to a fluke goal although Antonioli was to blame. Vergassola floated a cross to the back post and while the former Roma goalkeeper was watching Taddei the ball bounced into the net. Kutuzov latched on Carrozzieri's knock down, dribbled past three players and Rossini took the ball off his foot and shot into the corner. Attendance : 25,000 Assists : ?, Kutuzov |
