SERIE A ROUND 7

26 October 2003

INTER 0-0 ROMA

Inter did ok considering who they were playing. Cassano lobbed over the bar when a mistake by
Cannavaro gave him a half chance. Toldo made a fantastic save to deny Totti. Mancini, Lima and
De Rossi wasted chances. Inter started to threaten following the introduction of Cruz and Karagounis.
Cruz had a goal disallowed for handball and Karagounis forced Pelizzoli into a save. Vieri could have
stolen the points at the end but his big match curse continued. After Pelizzoli blocked his first
effort he was left with an open goal but slammed the ball against the bar, with his right foot.

JUVENTUS 2-0 BRESCIA
Nedved 5
Trezeguet 45

Baggio blew a great chance to give Brescia the lead from the penalty spot. A minute later Juve
were a goal up. Trezeguet headed on Zambrotta's cross and Nedved hit a spectacular overhead
kick into the top corner. Trezeguet headed Juve further in front in first half injury time.
Juve actually created more chances in the second half but obviously failed to take them.

Attendance : 32,360
Assists : Trezeguet, Camoranesi

LAZIO 2-1 BOLOGNA
Inzaghi 82 Dabo 87 (og)
Corradi 92

Bologna were headed for a point until an incredibly stupid mistake by Zanchi let in Inzaghi. Dabo
equalised for Bologna when he headed past Peruzzi but a late winner by Corradi, the new Casiraghi
(and that's not a compliment) gave Lazio the points.

Attendance : 45,300
Assist : Lopez

PARMA 3-0 MODENA
Morfeo 27
Adriano 85
Marchionni 87

Adriano headed against Morfeo and he reacted quickly to score. Scaponi was sent off for striking Junior
in the face. Frey made an amazing save from Amoruso then Parma scored two in two minutes. I still
haven't figured out how the Modena defence managed to miss Adriano standing alone in the box.
Gilardinho stepped over Junior's cross and Marchionni volleyed in Parma's third.

Attendance : 18,000
Red Card : Scaponi 80 (Modena)
Assists : Adriano, Morfeo, Junior

PERUGIA 3-3 UDINESE
Di Loreto 41 Fava 35, 61, 76
Bothroyd 43
Margiotta 88

A brilliant pass by Jorgensen set up Fava for the first of his three goals. Di Loreto headed Perugia level
from Grosso's free kick and Bothroyd shot Perugia into the lead with a tremendous strike from 25 yds.
Fava slid in to meet Jorgensen's cross and completed his hat-trick when the Perugia defence went to
sleep on a Sensini long ball but he did the same at the other end, his slack back header allowed
Margiotta to rescue a well earned point.

Attendance : 8,000
Assists : Jorgensen, Grosso (fk), ?, Jorgensen, Sensini

REGGINA 0-0 ANCONA

Reggina had most of the chances.

Attendance : 19,600

SAMPDORIA 0-3 MILAN
								Tomasson 38
								Shevchenko 59, 91

Rui Costa was actually involved in the opening goal! As usual he took forever to pass the ball and
as he was closed down the ball broke for Simic, Antonioli foolishly came off his line allowing
Tomasson to score into an empty net. Shevchenko finished off a brilliant passing move between
Seedorf, Serginho and Tomasson. Antonioli did well to save a well struck effort by Tomasson but
unfortunately the ball landed at Kaka's feet, Antonioli managed to get a hand to his cross but
parried the ball straight onto Shevchenko's head.

This match brings back one of my earliest footballing memories, Milan thrashing Sampdoria, who
were reigning champions at the time, 5-1 way back in the 1991-1992 season. Milan vs Juve next
Saturday.

Attendance : 35,000
Assists : Simic, Serginho

25 October 2003

SIENA 2-1 LECCE
Taddei 11 Chevanton 9
Chiesa 75

Giacomazzi headed on a cross and Chevanton volleyed into the corner. Siena were level 2 minutes
later, Taddei scored with a spectacularly volley from a Chiesa corner. Chiesa's excellent left foot
finish gave Siena the points.

Lecce already looked doomed. They better get themselves a new coach quickly. I hear Cuper is
available.

Attendance : 11,000
Assists : Giacomazzi, Chiesa (ck), D'Aversa

EMPOLI 0-1 CHIEVO
								Amauri 59

Bucci made an amazing one handed save from Santana. Amauri scored his third Serie A goal and it
was probably his best, a Van Basten style right foot volley from Semioli's cross.

Amauri already looks a better prospect then the two rubbish Chievo strikers that have represented
Italy i.e. Corradi and Marazzina.

Attendance : 3,850
Assist : Semioli
