SERIE A ROUND 29

11 April 2004

PERUGIA 2-3 INTER
Di Francesco 49 Adriano 24, 85
Hubner 58 Martins 88

Obodo flicked up the ball and volleyed against the post and Fabiano struck the same post with
a stinging shot. The goal of the season gave Inter an undeserved lead. Adriano ran at the Perugia
defence, did a pirouette sending Diamoutene crashing to the ground, did a step over sending
Di Loreto on his backside and then as Kalac came off his line lobbed into the corner. Players of
his size should not have that much ability, amazing goal.

Perugia hit back with two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Di Francesco headed in Codrea's cross and
The Boss displayed his predatory instincts when Fabiano's shot struck him and he turned instantly
before shooting past Toldo. Adriano took Almeyda's throw in off his chest, turned and drilled the
ball past Kalac. Martins raced away to score the winner as the Perugia defence froze trying to play
offside. Vieri watched the match from the bench.

Assists : ?, Codrea, Fabiano, Almeyda (throw in), Emre

10 April 2004

JUVENTUS 1-0 LAZIO
Trezeguet 87

Excellent first half, awful second. Trezeguet should have scored inside the first minute
but headed wide. Cesar's goal was disallowed because Inzaghi was offside. I assume the
ref thought he was interfering because he was running at the Juve defence. Zambrotta
skinned Stam with a brilliant dummy on the edge of the box then fired a shot at the top
corner but Sereni made a spectacular one handed save. Liverani and Camoranesi wasted
chances as the first half drew to a close.

The second half was crap but Trezeguet got between Oddo and Couto to scored a late winner
with a bullet header from Camoranesi's cross. His 15th league goal in an injury hit season.

Attendance : 25,000
Assist : Camoranesi

ANCONA 3-2 BOLOGNA
Rapajc 26, 55 Nakata 12 (Pen)
Bucchi 50 Tare 64

Nakata put away a 12th minute as relegated Ancona seemed set for another thrashing. Rapajc
equalised with a deflected free kick. Bucchi put Ancona in the lead when he scrambled in
from a corner and Rapajc made it 3-1 after linking with Pandev. Tare pulled Bologna back to
within one goal with, what else, a header from a corner. Marcon clawed away a Signori
free kick and Guly headed wide.

With this win Ancona are no longer the worst side in Serie A history. Last week they equalised the
record set by Varese in 1971-72 by going 28 rounds without a victory.

Attendance : 9,500
Assists : Locatelli (won pen), Pandev, Signori (ck)

BRESCIA 0-0 MODENA

After scoring 8 goals in their last two games Brescia only managed to create one clear cut
goalscoring chance.

Attendance : 11,500

MILAN 1-0 EMPOLI
Pirlo 85 (Pen)

Kaka' shoot straight at Balleri after a defensive mix-up put him the clear and Shevchenko
should have done better when Pirlo dropped a ball at his feet. Balli made a great save from
Kaka's back heel volley. The crowd booed Ancelotti's decision to substitute Rui Costa for Ambrosini
(because along with Seedorf he was the only Milan player not to embarrass himself on
Wednesday). Ambrosini headed against a post. Three Milan players were standing offside
when Ambrosini chipped a ball into the box, Tomasson lobbed the ball over Balli before
'colliding' with him and tumbling to the ground. Penalty. Pirlo sent the ball to Cassano's right.

I wouldn't blame the ref for awarding the penalty I would blame the linesman for not calling
offside.

Attendance : 62,000
Assist : Tomasson (won pen)
Red Card : Balli 83 (Empoli)

PARMA 3-1 LECCE
Carbone 1 Chevanton 62
Gilardino 41, 63

Hilarious first goal. Sicignano was probably pleased with himself after embarrassing Gilardino
with a dummy as the striker closed him down problem was he took the ball too far and Carbone
beat him to it and rolled into an empty net. Barone's ball over the top sprung the Lecce offside
trap and Bresciano's centre left Gilardino with a tap-in. Francheschini had a goal disallowed
because team-mate Chevanton took a dive in the box! Lecce did pull a goal back in the second
half when Chevanton smashed in a loose ball after Ferrari failed to clear but Gilardino restored
Parma's two goal lead with a superbly struck half volley.

Attendance : 14,000
Assist : Bresciano

REGGINA 0-1 UDINESE
							Iaquinta 77

Cozza skyed a first half penalty. Di Michele threw a hissy fit after Pizarro took a dive after
Mozart struck him in the chops (thought not hard), both players were sent off, Di Michele
had to be forced down the tunnel. Franceschini slipped when attempting to cut out a through
pass and Iaquinta drilled the ball into the bottom corner. Dall'Acqua should have equalised in
injury time but with the 'keeper beaten shot wide.

Attendance : 20,000
Red Cards : Di Michele 62 (Reggina), Pizarro 62 (Udinese)

ROMA 3-1 CHIEVO
Carew 29 Cossato 32
Cassano 60
Barzagli 77 (og)

An absolutely amazing assist from last weeks man of the match, 21 year old D'Agostino.
Cassano hit a volleyed pass into the midfielder, who is only one month younger than him,
and as he turned he back heel volleyed the ball up in the air and Carew volleyed into the
bottom corner. Cossato levelled three minutes later with a header from Zanchetta's free kick.
Cassano headed in a rebound and Barzagli turned D'Agostino's centre past his own 'keeper.

Had it not been for deflections D'Agostino would have had 4 assists in the last two games.
Another big talent from the Roma production line.

Attendance : 7,000
Assists : D'Agostino, Zanchetta (fk)

SIENA 0-0 SAMPDORIA

Lots of shots on goal but neither 'keeper was really troubled.

Attendance : 12,000
