SERIE A ROUND 22

22 February 2004

BRESCIA 1-2 LECCE
Baggio 91 Chevanton 12
							Cassetti 88

He did it again. This time there was no deflection. Free kick on the edge of the box, hit up
and over the wall, into the bottom corner, with pace. Cassetti scrambled in after a series
of deflections. Baggio's classy finish came too late.

Lecce may just pull it off i.e. Serie A survival. The question is whose shirt will Chevanton
be wearing next season and in which league?

Assists : Chevanton (won fk), Matuzalem

BOLOGNA 0-1 JUVENTUS
							Iuliano 56

Despite playing their best football of the season Juve needed a deflected free kick to claim
the points. Del Piero's deflected free kick was turned in by Iuliano at the back post.

Attendance : 35,000

CHIEVO 0-0 LAZIO

Marchegiani ended Lazio's streak with a stunning penalty save from former team-mate
Claudio Lopez. Lazio were awarded the penalty when Malago handled off his line.

Attendance : 11,706
Red Card : Malago 58 (Chievo)

MODENA 1-1 EMPOLI
Amoruso 38 Rocchi 50

Milanetto took a whack as he ran into the box and centred for Amoruso who scored his
second goal in a week. Rocchi tapped into an empty net after Di Natale's shot came back
off a post. Empoli had the better of the second half but Zancope' kept them at bay.

Assist : Milanetto

REGGINA 1-2 PERUGIA
Cozza 53 (Pen) Ze Maria 20
							Hubner 92

A brilliant free kick gave draw specialists Perugia an early lead. Kalac who has been shaky
in recent weeks was back to his best and kept denying Reggina an equaliser but was finally
beaten from the spot after Ze Maria floored Comotto. Deep into jury time The Boss sealed
Perugia's first victory of the season when he headed into an empty net.

Attendance : 19,000
Assists : Ravanelli (won fk), Comotto (won pen)

ROMA 6-0 SIENA
Cassano 20, 25, 71
Mancini 30
Delvecchio 82
Totti 86

This match was over inside half an hour. De Rossi helped on Totti's corner and Cassano's
glancing header beat Fortin. Former Roma defender Cufre ended his slim chances of a return
to the Olimpico when he chested down a cross in his own penalty area, Cassano ran onto
the ball and shot into the corner then centred for Mancini to add a third. The loss of Zebina
to a cheap red card did little to halt the rampaging Roma attack. Totti's theatrics were
rewarded with a penalty but Fortin saved. Cassano completed his hat-trick when he rounded
the 'keeper before tapping into the net. Chiesa curled a free kick against a post. Delvecchio came
off the bench to score a fifth and Totti was not to be denied a third time by Fortin as he
volleyed Roque Junior's sliced clearance into the bottom corner.

Attendance : 50,000
Red Card : Zebina (Roma), Juarez 76 (Siena)
Assists : De Rossi, Cassano, Totti, Mancini

delightful reverse pass was slammed first time into the net by Jankulovski and Pizarro
scored his first goal from open play on a rebound.

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Pizarro, Iaquinta

21 February 2004

SAMPDORIA 1-2 PARMA
Flore Flores 83 Gilardino 59
							Bresciano 74

It was absolutely pissing down in Genoa, the pitch was a mess. An incredible mistake by
Antonioli gave Parma the lead. Gilardino hit a weak shot at goal, Antonioli bent down to
pick up the ball and somehow managed to let it roll through his fingers. Bresciano
blasted in off the post. Flore Flores scrambled in his first Serie A goal after Cipriani
headed on a corner. Parma survived a late penalty appeal. Samp's players have a tendency
to throw themselves down in the box.

Attendance : 25,000
Assists : Barone

MILAN 3-2 INTER
Tomasson 56 Stankovic 15
Kaka 58 Zanetti 40
Seedorf 85

Despite controlling possession Milan found themselves two goals down at the break.
Stankovic scored direct from a corner when everyone was battling in the box and forget
to attack the ball. Inter's second also followed a corner, Dida punched the ball out to the
edge of the area and Cristiano Zanetti's shot deflected in off Kaladze. Cristiano Zanetti's
systematic fouling broke up any rhythm and kept the Milan attacks at bay.

It was a different story in the second half. Inter never got off the blocks though Adriano
wasted a glorious chance when he blazed over the bar after Dida slipped when going
for a cross. Substitute Tomasson tapped in after Toldo spilled a speculative effort from
Seedorf and Kaka was allowed to run 40 yards unchallenged before hitting a precise shot
into the bottom corner. The lack of challenges was probably due to Kily Gonzalez and
Stankovic picking up yellow cards. How Cristiano Zanetti escaped a booking remains a
mystery. The tempo slowed and it seemed as if the match was headed for a draw until
Seedorf beat Toldo with a sensational 30 yard strike.

After the match Berlusconi ordered Ancelotti to play with two strikers so it looks like
Tomasson will be getting more playing time and Rui Costa most likely will make way
with a place on the bench :

"This is not a suggestion, but rather an order to anyone who will be in charge of this club.
Milan are a winning team and must therefore always go out there with the ultimate attacking
potential at our disposal. As of Monday this side must play with two strikers upfront or
whoever is in charge will no longer be the Coach of Milan." - Silvio Berlusconi

Attendance : 78,234
Assists : Seedorf, Costacurta
