SERIE A ROUND 21

15 February 2004

JUVENTUS 1-0 REGGINA
Maresca 50

Having skinned a defender Maresca shot wide with the goal at his mercy. Buffon denied
Cozza on the break with an excellent one handed save and Del Piero had a goal disallowed
for 'handball' though from the reply it didn't look like he made any contact. Belardi
made a desperate save at the feet of Di Vaio but Maresca smashed in the rebound in off
the post. Del Piero headed against the bar and struck the woodwork again with a terrific
curling effort from the edge of the box.

Attendance : 30,000

ANCONA 0-0 ROMA

A week after thrashing Juve Roma couldn't find a way past an inspired Marcon in Ancona's
goal.

Attendance : 20,000
Assists :

BOLOGNA 1-1 MODENA
Locatelli 35 Amoruso 64

Locatelli gave Bologna the lead three minutes after Colucci was dismissed for handball.
Bellucci's shot deflected off Grandoni, Mayer inexplicably decided to pass the ball across
the face of goal and Locatelli put it past Zancope. Amoruso scored a fantastic equaliser.
With his back to goal he bounced Vignaroli's cross high off his chest then turned
and volleyed into the bottom corner.

Attendance : 25,000
Assist : Vignarolli
Red Card : Colucci 32 (Bologna)

BRESCIA 1-1 SAMPDORIA
Caracciolo 6 Doni 57

Sampdoria tried to play offside as Baggio threaded the ball to Colucci, Antonioli ran off
his line, Colucci centred and Caracciolo tapped in. Cipriani should have levelled on the
half hour mark. He fouled/forced Dianelli to the ground as they battled for a cross but
shot against the post having drawn out the 'keeper. Bazzani missed a routine header
but Doni earned Samp a deserved share of the points with a brilliant free kick.

Assists : Colucci, Cipriani (won fk)

INTER 1-2 UDINESE
Cruz 71 Pinzi 53
							Fava 66

This looked to be a hell of a match. De Sanctis saved brilliantly from Recoba after he dribbled
past three players and Jorgensen almost scored one of the all time great goals from a fabulous
80 yard pass, wide right on the edge of the box he smashed a half volley against the inside of the
opposite post. Pinzi beat Toldo with a brilliant shot from 20 yards. Terrible marking allowed Fava
to get on the end of Jankulovski's centre, despite being outnumbered three to one. Having gone
close with a free kick Cruz whacked in the equaliser via a Vieri handball. A fantastic save denied
the Argentinean an equaliser.

Udinese do the double over both Milan clubs, at the San Siro no less.

Attendance : 55,000
Assists : Jorgensen, Jankulovski, Vieri

LECCE 1-1 MILAN
Chevanton 19 Shevchenko 53

Milan made their trademark slow start against jobber teams and went behind to a brilliant,
albeit deflected, free kick. Chevanton stripped his shirt, ran off the pitch and drop kicked a
huge Pepsi Twist can. Tomasson headed down a Maldini long ball and Shevchenko volleyed
into the bottom corner. Chevanton kept causing problems from dead balls and Bolano denied
Nesta the winner with a spectacular headed clearance off the line. Nesta walked over to
congratulate him.

Attendance : 31,427
Assist : Tomasson

SIENA 1-2 PARMA
Chiesa 43 Gilardino 58
							Bresciano 91

Gilardino made amends for an earlier miss by equalising Chiesa's goal. A neat three
man move ended with a cross into the box, Mignani threw himself at the ball and got a
piece of Gilardino in the process but he stayed on his feet and shot under Rossi. Siena
kept ploughing forward but Chiesa was twice denied by Frey. Parma scored the winner
deep into injury time on the break. Bresciano ran the length of the field and swapped passes
with Gilardino before firing past Rossi.

Attendance : 10,000
Assists : Lazetic, Seric

14 February 2004

LAZIO 3-0 EMPOLI
Couto 5
Zauri 46
Stam 71

Lazio followed up their mid-week thrashing of Milan's reserves with an easy victory
over Empoli. Couto headed in a Mihajlovic corner and right on half time Zauri lobbed
in a second. A thunderous strike from Stam left Balli's net quaking.

Assist : Mihajlovic (ck), Cesar, Mihajlovic

PERUGIA 0-2 CHIEVO
							Barzagli 67
							Cossato 95

Barzagli headed in Zanchetta's free kick. Zanchetta's long ball prompted Kalac to rush off his
line but Cossato beat him to the ball and lobbed into an empty net. The home side failed to
trouble Marchegiani. It looks like this season they really are doomed.

Attendance : 8,000
Assists : Zanchetta (x2)
