SERIE A ROUND 19

31 January 2004

INTER 4-0 SIENA
Recoba 22, 67 (Pen)
Adriano 49, 78

After curling a shot against the crossbar, Recoba curled one inside the post, brilliant
goal. Adriano punished a slip by Roque Junior to double Inter's lead and Roque Junior
chopped him down to give away a penalty. Recoba blasted the ball past Rossi and
Adriano tapped in the fourth from Zanetti's centre.

Attendance : 51,000
Assists : Adriano, Cannavaro, Adriano (won pen), J Zanetti

ANCONA 0-2 LECCE
							Chevanton 1
							Konan 61

Hedman had a fine debut for Ancona. His awful positioning gifted Chevanton the opener
and after Sogliano was dismissed for pushing Chevanton in the face, he was beaten by
substitute Konan's speculative low shot.

I could have sworn Hedman used to be a good 'keeper.

Attendance : 13,000
Assists : Bojinov, ?
Red Card : Sogliano 51 (Ancona)

BOLOGNA 0-2 MILAN
							Shevchenko 19
							Tomasson 89

Locatelli should have given Bologna the lead but headed straight at Dida. Shevchenko made
no such mistake from a wonderful Pirlo cross. Seedorf and Shevchenko spurned presentable
chances before Pagliuca denied Kaka with a stunning reaction save. Bologna had three penalty
appeals turned down for handball, neither of which were penalties. Pecchia finally tested
Dida with a shot from distance. Substitute Tomasson put Milan out of site with a brilliant
finish. Serginho floated a cross into the box, Tomasson, who had his back to goal, bounced
it off his chest and lobbed over Pagliuca as he turned. Tremendous finish.

Attendance : 36,000
Assists : Pirlo, Serginho

JUVENTUS 1-0 CHIEVO
Camoranesi 10

Trezeguet flicked on Appiah's cross and the incredibly ugly Camoranesi volleyed past
Marchegiani. Neither 'keeper was troubled after the goal. Di Vaio should have had a
brace after replacing Trezeguet on mid way through the second half.

Attendance : 30,100

LAZIO 1-1 SAMPDORIA
Fiore 10 Bazzani 49

Fiore tapped in a rebound after Muzzi's rebounded back off a post. Sampdoria's equaliser
was equally rubbish, Cipriani injured himself when attempting a volley, the ball broke
to Bazzani and he blasted past Peruzzi. Cesar should have wrapped up the points but
rattled the post.

Attendance : 45,000

PERUGIA 2-2 PARMA
Hubner 8 Gilardino 34
Ze Maria 41 (Pen) Morfeo 37

The Boss scored his first Serie A goal of the season having just joined Perugia from Ancona.
Giandomenico found him with a long ball out wide, he ran into the box, cut inside a
defender before curling a low shot beyond Frey. Gilardino showed fantastic skill to draw
Parma level. He controlled Castellini's long ball on his chest, pulled the ball away from a
defender with his right foot then shot wide of Kalac with his left. Three minutes later
Parma took the lead. Marchionni fired in a cross from the right and Morfeo lashed the
ball into the roof of the net. Ze Maria equalised from the spot after Castellini had pulled
back Huber. Parma were awarded a penalty for a foul on Gilardinho but Kalac made a
brilliant save to deny Marchionni the winning goal.

Attendance : 10,000
Red Card : Nastos 78 (Perugia)
Assists : Giandomenico, Castellini, Marchionni, Hubner (won pen)

UDINESE 1-0 MODENA
Iaquinta 92

Makinwa wasted a glorious chance in the first half. After brilliantly timing his run to
break Udinese's offside trap he rounded De Sanctis and was left with an open goal but
shot against the post. Sensini made a spectacular goal-line clearance from Vignarolli as
the away side continued to dominate. Udinese came out fighting in the second half,
Ballotta deflected an effort from Jorgensen onto the post but was beaten deep into injury
time from a free kick. Jorgensen rolled the ball to Iaquinta and he thumped a low shot
into the corner.

Attendance : 15,000
Assist : Jorgensen

30 January 2004

REGGINA 2-0 EMPOLI
Cozza 50 (Pen)
Di Michele 89 (Pen)

Bucci gave away both penalties but should have been sent off after the first when he
flew off his line and floored Bonazzoli. The second another clear penalty for a foul on
Di Michele.

Attendance : 18,000
Assists : Bonazzoli (won pen), Di Michele (won pen)

BRESCIA 1-0 ROMA
Bachini 42 (Pen)

Cassano missed an open goal after Agliardi parried Mancini's free kick straight to him.
Del Nero threw himself down in the box after Samuel pulled him back. A stupid
mistake from a player who should know better. Bachini just about managed to convert
the penalty, Pelizzoli guessed right but could only help the ball into the net. These
limp wristed mistakes are common from him. Roma kept throwing crosses into the box
but failed to test Agliardi.

Going back to the Milan match Roma have only collected 7 points out of a possible 15.
They simply cannot afford to lose to Juventus next week in the Olimpico.

Attendance : 18,000
Assist : Del Nero
