SERIE A ROUND 16

11 January 2004

LECCE 1-2 BOLOGNA
Bojinov 22 Pecchia 13
							Tare 76

It was a bad week for goalkeepers. Poleksic kicked the ball to Signori, he passed to Nervo,
Lecce tried to play him offside leaving Pecchi with an easy finish. 17 year old CM4 star
Bojinov scored his first Serie A goal after several near misses. The ball fell at his feet from
a team-mates overhead kick and he scored from close range. Pagliuca kept Bologna in
the match with some tremendous saves, one in particular from Tonetto. Pecchia also
cleared a shot off the line. After soaking up so much pressure Lecce fell victim to a goal
from Tare, naturally a header.

Lecce have some excellent players and play great football and I would dearly love to see
them stay in Serie A but the problem is they're shit.

Attendance : 11,979
Assists : Nervo, Siviglia, Nakata

EMPOLI 2-0 ANCONA
Di Natale 47
Vanucchi 49

There was a suspision of offside when Di Natale gave Empoli the lead early in the second
half. Two minutes later Vanucchi volleyed a loose ball into the net. Ancona are quite possibly
the worst team in the history of Serie A having amassed a truley pathetic 4 points in their
16 games.

Attendance : 3,850
Assist : Ficini

LAZIO 0-1 BRESCIA
							Di Biagio 4

A fantastic shot from all of 35yds put a massive dent in Lazio's champions league
hopes. Fiore had Lazio's only noteworthy effort. Brescia were rarely troubled.

Attendance : 50,000
Assit : Baggio (fk)

MILAN 3-1 REGGINA
Kaka 8, 55 Torrisi 2
Pirlo 70 (Pen)

Milan failed to take heed of Ancelotti's warning before the match and conceded an
early goal after some terrible defending from a corner. Reggina would have been
two goals up but for a brilliant save by Dida. Shortly after Seedorf headed against
the crossbar Kaka equalised. He received the ball with his back to goal, turned,
touched the ball past a defender and with a rapid shot poked into the corner,
fabulous skill. Rui Costa, fresh from a superb performance in last week's top of the
table clash with Roma, hit a peach of cross upto Shevchenko but Belardi denied him
with a stunning one handed save and followed that up with with another, from
Serginho. A fortunate goal gave Milan a deserved lead, Sottil's clearence rebounded
off Kaka into the net. Kaka took a tumble in the box to win a penalty and after missing
two in a row Pirlo stepped up and hit an outreagous lob wide of Belardi.

Reggina came into this match on the back of consecutive wins over Parma and Lazio.
Kaka has limitless potential.

Attendance : 60,000
Assist : Kaka (won pen)

PERUGIA 0-1 ROMA
							Mancini 2

Emeron and Tomassi wasted great chances to add to Mancini's second minute goal.
Ze Maria unleashed a spectacularly violent shot but Pelizzoli managed to tip the
ball against the post. A terrible clearence from a below par Emerson gave Bothroyd
a run in on goal, he was brought down by Dellas and Samuel but no penalty. Kalac
was back in goal for Perugia and made two excellent saves from Lima and Cassano.

Attendance : 25,000
Assist : Dacourt

SAMPDORIA 1-2 JUVENTUS
Flachi 56 Camoranesi 23
							Conte 64

Antonioli kicked the ball straight to Trezeguet, he played it out wide to Nedved and his
cross was met by Camoranesi's diving header, 0-1. Buffon was hit with an aerosol can
from the stands. Samp should have been awarded a penalty for handball. Buffon could
only parry Volpi's cross as far as Flachi and he headed in the equaliser. Nedved held up
the ball and back heeled for Conte, he found the bottom corner of the net.

Attendance : 36,000
Assists : Nedved (x2)

SIENA 4-0 MODENA
Lazetic 5
Chiesa 44
Ventola 70
Morello 82

Lazetic gave Siena a dream start with a brilliant shot after just 5 minutes. He took the ball
off team-mate Chiesa and from the edge of the box crashed a shot in off a post. Siena's
second goal should make every blooper show worldwide. Ballotta took throw in. He threw
he ball at one of his defenders, the defender passed the ball back to him, he kicked it straight
to Chiesa, he lifted the ball over a defender and shot into an empty net. Sucks to be Ballotta
tonight. Injury prone, penalty winning cheating Inter reject Ventola scored his first goal of
the season and headed on a cross for Morello to add the fourth.

Attendance : 11,000
Assists : Cheisa, Cufre, Ventola
Red Card : Ponzo 66 (Modena)

10 January 2004

PARMA 1-0 INTER
Filippini 41

Gilardino failed to take advantage of a mistake by Toldo after he misjudged a through ball
the striker was left with an empty net but hurried his shot allowing the Inter defence to
clear. Toldo didn't get away with his second blunder. A mix-up with Zanetti left
Filippini with an empty net. Inter's best first half chance fell to Vieri but he headed against
the bar. Gilardino wasted several chances in the second half and Frey made up for a terrible
clearance by blocking a typically blistering shot from substitute Martins. A World Class save
from Emre's free kick denied Inter a share of the points.

Just as Inter were within touching distance of top spot they piss away 6 points against Lazio
and Parma. Not exactly the easiest of teams to beat but under the circumstances both
teams were ripe for the taking.

Attendance : 22,000
