SERIE A ROUND 14

14 December 2003

LAZIO 2-1 INTER
Cannavaro 43 (og) Vieri 30
Zauri 82

Sereni failed to hold Recoba's weak cross leaving Vieri with an empty net.
Corradi was credited with the equaliser but I'm sure Gottardi got the last
touch. The second half came to life after Almeyda's bizarre sending off.
He was booked for saying something to Corradi as the ref was about
to show him the card he grabbed hold of it, promptly earning himself a red.
After being sent off, he turned, as if to walk off the pitch, then turned around
and went after Corradi, Cordoba made sure he didn't get to him. He then shook
hands with the ref and walked off! Corradi missed an open goal and Vieri overran
a pass when clean through, the ball bounced off his heels into the path of Stam
who started a move down the right which ended with Zauri turning in
Delgado's deflected centre.

Inter's first league loss under Zaccheroni.

Attendance : 50,000
Red Card : Almeyda 69 (Inter)

CHIEVO 1-0 ANCONA
Cossato 41

Chievo's aimless long balls eventually lead to a goal when Milanese turned a long ball
onto Cossato, Marcon went down way too early leaving the striker with an empty net.
Moro should have been sent off for a criminal two footed foul on Lombardi - who was
stretchered off. A fantastic penalty save by Marchegiani (from Rapajic) denied Ancona
what would have been only their fifth point of the season.

Attendance : 9,000

LECCE 1-1 JUVENTUS
Konan 24 Trezeguet 85

Chevanton teased Miccoli before firing a cross into the box, I don't know what
the hell Legrottaglie was doing because he completely missed the ball and Konan
headed Lecce into a shock lead. Del Piero wasted a great chance to level at the end
of the first half. I'm sure Di Vaio would have scored.

Ledesma wasted a one on one with Buffon and Chevanton earned Iuliano an early
bath with a piece of acting right out of amateur hour. Trezeguet scored a controversial
late equaliser after Lecce wasted a great chance on the break to seal victory. Appiah
chipped a free kick into the box, Trezeguet turned and volleyed into the bottom corner.
Trezeguet was just about onside, Camoranesi wasn't.

Attendance : 23,336
Red Cards : Iuliano 59 (Juventus)
Assist : Chevanton, Appiah (fk)

MILAN 1-2 UDINESE
Cafu 70 Fava 2
							Sensini 51

Serginho lost the ball in midfield and Jorgensen sent Udinese away on the break,
he played the ball wide to Pinzi and Fava met his pass with a stunning first time
strike. Milan won their first penalty of the season when De Sanctis cleared Inzaghi
in the box. Pirlo, who was 100% on penalties last season, missed his second in 7 days,
his shot cannoned back of a post and Kaladze wasted the rebound. Kaka was booked
for diving. Milan peppered the Udinese goal but the visitors increased their lead
when Sensini diverted Bertotto's shot past Dida. Cafu lashed in a loose ball after
Sensini made a mess of a cross. Having just returned to first team action following
a long injury lay off Kaladze was sent off for pushing Bertotto in the face. A fantastic
block by De Sanctis denied Tomasson the equaliser.

Attendance : 45,000
Assists : Pinzi, Bertotto,
Red Card : Kaladze 80 (Mila)

PERUGIA 2-2 BRESCIA
Margiotta 6 Di Biagio 9
Dianelli 72 (og) Filippini 74

Margiotta headed Perugia into the lead from Grosso's corner. Brescia were
level three minutes later when Di Biagio blasted in ? free kick. Dianelli turned
Grosso's centre past his own 'keeper but once again Brescia were level within
minutes, this time Filippini tapped in Pisano's centre.

Attendance : 8,000
Assist : Grosso (ck), ?, Pisano

SAMPDORIA 1-1 MODENA
Bazzani 50 Conte 22 (og)

Bazzani revealed a photo of his dog on his t-shirt after scoring and by dog I mean
literally a dog not his wife, despite what you may have heard. Conte scored his
second own goal of the season (the first was in a Coppa Italia match against
Milan), Kamara's speculative shot hit his backside leaving Antonioli no chance.
Bazzani equalised with a trademark header. Amoruso continued his crusade to
win the Emile Heskey Worst Striker In The League award with a truly disastrous
shot on the turn.

Attendance : 25,000
Assist : Bettarini

SIENA 0-0 BOLOGNA

There was a nice fireworks display after the match.

Attendance : 10,000

PARMA 1-2 REGGINA
Gilardino 85 (Pen) Di Michele 27
							Cozza 91

Parma's offside trap gifted Reggina the opening goal in this derby. Di Michele
did well to keep his composure as Frey flew off his line - he flicked the ball over
the tall Frenchman before knocking it into an empty net. Gilardino converted
a penalty awarded for handball but Cozza sealed Reggina's second victory
when he volleyed in Mesto's cross.

Three losses in a row for Parma. It seems the clubs off field problems (sponsors/owners
Parmalat are rumoured to be going under) are effecting morale.

Attendance : 11,000
Assists : Cozza, Mesto
Red Card : Cardone 90 (Parma)

EMPOLI 0-2 ROMA
							Totti 23 (Pen), 45

It was pathetic to see the Empoli players vociferously protest the refs decision
to award what was an utterly blatant penalty when Pratali tried to remove Carew's shirt.
Totti smashed the ball past Bucci then spotted the midget off his line and sent a
peach of a lob sailing over his head into the net, brilliant goal.

It looks like Cassano has replaced Totti as the most fouled player in the league.

Attendance : 12,000
Assists : Carew (won pen), Cassano
