SERIE A ROUND 24

Milan Draw A Blank

9 March 2003

MILAN 0-0 CHEIVO

Having spurned two early chances Shevchenko was denied a goal by Lupatelli when he
finally managed to get a shot on target. Gattuso missed a great chance when the Chievo
defence made a hash of clearing a cross. Milan attacked vigorously at the start of the
second half but still couldn't find a way through the Chievo defence. Deep into injury
the eternally useless Rui Costa missed an open goal after Lupatelli parried Seedorf's
fierce drive against the post.

Attendance : 56,123

ATALANTA 0-0 PARMA

It's a mystery how a match involving Parma ends goal-less given their appalling defence
and outstanding attack. Frey made one of those best 'keeper in the World type saves
from Vugrinec. Dabo unleashed a shot which flew just over the crossbar and at the other
end Taibi's crossbar was victimised by Adriano.

Attendance : 15,000

COMO 1-1 BRESCIA
Pecchia 53 Toni 54

Serial donkey Amoruso blundered twice when in on goal. Pecchia scored a tap in
after Stellini smashed the ball against a post. Brescia were level less than a minute
later. Baggio played the ball out wide to Matuzalem with an exquisite flick, Matuzalem
floated a cross into the box and Toni volleyed past Ferron. Aligretti headed a free kick
against the crossbar. Tare blew two chances to steal the points for Brescia.

Attendance : 8,000
Assist : Matuzalem

EMPOLI 3-1 PIACENZA
Grella 55 Hubner 89
Tavano 67
Borriello 80

Borriello, on loan from Milan, came on as a second half substitute and won the match for Empoli.
He flicked on a free kick and Grella, who had struck the post with a great shot minutes earlier,
fired home. A delightful disguised pass from Busce gave Tavano his third goal of the season and
both players combined to give Borriello his first Serie A goal, Tavano stepping over Busce's
cross leaving the striker with the simple task of beating Orlandoni. The Boss continued with
his clinic on finishing with another fine goal. He controlled a pass on his chest, turned waited
for a defender to dive in, skipped past and hit a low volley inside the post. Brilliant.

Attendance : 8,000
Assists : Boriello, Busce (x2), ?

MODENA 1-1 PERUGIA
Colucci 13 Vryzas 32

Vignarolli flicked on a throw in, Kamara pulled the ball back to the edge of the box and Kalac
palmed Colucci's shot into his own net. Nice build-up, shit goal. Kalac made amends with
an excellent save from Vignarolli. Vryzas equalised just past the half hour mark. His header,
from a Ze Maria free kick, was brilliantly save by Ballotta but he followed up, 1-1. Kalac made
another stupendous save, this time from Marasco - once again the wonderfully gifted Kamara
was involved in the build-up.

Attendance : 14,000
Assist : Kamara

TORINO 1-0 REGGINA
Ferrante 12 (Pen)

Torino won the first of their five matches away from the Delle Alpi (for the crowd disorder
during the home time against Milan) thanks to a dubious penalty, violently converted by
Ferrante. Di Michele made one of the worst misses ever and Galante was booked twice and
subsequently sent off for feigning injury! The referee may have given a dubious penalty but
for that decision alone he deserves a ton of credit.

Attendance : 4,500
Red Card : Galante 92 (Torino)
Assist : Lucarelli (won pen)

UDINESE 0-1 JUVENTUS
								Trezeguet 84

Here's a rarity. Juve should have been awarded a penalty for a handball by Kroldrup.
Pizni, who had been getting into mini fights with several Juve players throughout the
match was sent off for a retaliatory foul on Davids. Trezeguet won the match with a
ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT mid air left foot volley. Goal of the season, has to
be. Sensini cleared a Di Vaio shot off the line and at the other end was denied an
equaliser by a back breaking Buffon save.

Attendance : 28,00
Red Card : Pizni 59 (Udinese)
Assist : Zambrotta

8 March 2003

BOLOGNA 1-2 INTER
Cruz 23 Recoba 9, 84

An absolutely amazing free kick from Recoba gave Inter an early lead. Nervo was sent off for
an evil foul on Emre. Cruz, who has hit a barren spell lately, equalised with a great shot
on the turn. Recoba capitalised on a mix-up between Paramatti and Pagliuca when he
lobbed the former Inter goalkeeper late in the match.

Attendance : 35,000
Assist : Batistuta (won fk)
Red Card : Nervo 19 (Red Card)

ROMA 1-1 LAZIO
Cassano 88 Stankovic 8

Roma's defence stood still and watched as Stankovic played a one-two with Chiesa before
running into the box, their hands went up, Stankovic lobbed, 0-1. Cassano equalised when he
somehow managed to out jump donkey Couto and power Cafu's cross into the net. Delvecchio
and Stankovic were sent off for a girly slap fight.

Attendance : 72,000
Assists : Chiesa, Cafu
Red Cards : Delvecchio 91 (Roma), Stankovic 91 (Lazio)
