SERIE A ROUND 8

28 OCTOBER 2001

BRESCIA 3-2 VENEZIA
Baggio 50 (Pen) Magallanes 56
Toni 63, 80 Maniero 86 (Pen)

Baggio converted a penalty won by Emanuele Filippini. Magallanes equalised
minutes later by lashing Maniero's flick on into the net. Toni won the points
with his first Brescia goals - both header's from free kicks. Maniero converted
a penalty awarded when Bonera pulled him down in the box.

Attendance : 11,000
Assists : Filippini (x2), Guardiola, Maniero (x2)
Red Card : Andersson 51 (Venezia)

CHIEVO 3-0 TORINO
Marazzina 31
Manfredini 50
Eriberto 81

Marazzina's un-necessarily spectacular diving header gave Chievo the lead.
Eriberto ran down the right and sent a teasing cross into the box which
Manfredini headed into the corner. Man of the match Eriberto tapped
in the third from Manfredini's superbly weighted centre.

Attendance : 16,521
Assists : Corini, Eriberto, Manfredini

LECCE 0-2 ATALANTA
							Rossini 4
							Doni 82

Rossini headed in Zenoni's cross. Doni completed the shock victory
with brilliant strike from the edge of the box.

Attendance : 12,568
Assists : Zenoni, Berretta

MILAN 0-0 BOLOGNA

Unfortunately for Milan their best chances fell to Inzaghi. He headed wide
and twice shot over the bar from close range from Simone crosses.
Simone came on for Shevchenko who appeared to break his nose
went challenging for a cross. It's hard to score when one team plays
a 10-0-0 formation.

Attendance : 55,000

PARMA 2-2 VERONA
Di Vaio 11 Frick 19
Bonazzoli 88 Mutu 44

Parma started to play after going two goals down. Frick stole between
two defenders, though the marking wasn't exactly great, to head in
Seric's cross. Mutu added another just before half time from another
quality delivery by the under-rated Oddo. Di Vaio began the fight back
by stealing the ball off a defender, juggling it with his right foot before
drilling past Ferron with his left. Superb finish. Ferron came off his line
to clear as Di Vaio raced onto a pass, he managed to block the ball but
it spun up in the air and Di Vaio would have headed into an empty net
if he wasn't blatantly fouled by Gonnella, the ball rebounded off the
crossbar and Bonazzoli poked it into an empty net.

Attendance : 18,000
Assists : Seric, Oddo

PERUGIA 1-0 PIACENZA
Tedesco 71

Tedesco scored from a rebound after Orlandoni had tipped his header
onto the bar.

Attendance : 5,000
Red Cards : Miceli 73 (Piacenza), Statuto 86 (Piacenza)

UDINESE 1-2 FIORENTINA
Muzzi 32 (Pen) Amoroso 74
							Baronio 84

Muzzi latched onto Torricelli's outstretched leg to win himself a penalty.
Amoroso stole the ball off a defender, worked himself an opening before
smashing into the net. An awesome free kick by Baronio gave Fiorentina
the points and increased the pressure on Hodgson.

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Muzzi, ?

27 OCTOBER 2001

JUVENTUS 0-0 INTER

The best chances came from set pieces. Dull.

Juve started the season well but needed late penalties to win matches.
Lippi's problem is luck will only get you so far, you need a back-up
plan. He hasn't got one.

Attendance : 53,661 for £289,420

ROMA 2-0 LAZIO
Delvecchio
Totti

A mistake by the once infallible Nesta gifted Roma the lead. As he
chased down Delvecchio he grabbed fish faces shirt in the box and fell.
Delvecchio hit an instant low shot past Peruzzi. Lopez wasted a glorious
chance to equalise before Totti headed in Roma's second from Lima's
cross.

There's an old saying that form counts for nothing in derby games.
That wasn't the case here. Lazio sucked in the first week of the
season, they sucked last week, they suck in Europe and they still
suck. Full credit to Capello for getting Roma right back in the title
picture.

Attendance : 80,000 for £529,805
Assists : Emerson, Lima
