21 OCTOBER 2001
INTER 2-4 MILAN
Ventola 13 Shevchenko 59, 78
Kallon 91 Contra 61
Inzaghi 64
Milan started well but Inter took the lead. Kallon crossed from the by-line,
the ball appeared to take a deflection off Serginho leaving Abbiati flapping
and Ventola to tap into an empty net.
An amazing second half by Milan. Iron Man Shevchenko headed Milan
level from a sensational 30yd diagonal cross by Rui Costa. Two minutes
later Milan caught Inter from a quickly taken free kick after Shevchenko
had been flattened by Materazzi. Kaladze set the ball then passed to
Contra who left fly with his left foot, top corner 1-2. A super passing
move ended with Inzaghi heading in Contra's cross. Zanetti's pimp,
Serginho, played a one two with Rui Costa before centring for
Shevchenko to score an easy second. Kallon scored a nice consolation
goal from Okan's deflected cross.
The left side of the San Siro pitch should be renamed in Serginho's
honour because he absolutely owns it just like he OWNS Zanetti.
A great comeback but Inter absolutely crumbled. Milan should play
all their games in the evening - they are 100% this season.
Assists : Rui Costa, Kaladze, Contra, Serginho
ATALANTA 1-5 UDINESE
Doni 57 Jorgensen 5, 62
Iaquinta 77
Muzzi 81 (Pen), 86
A superb double from dribbling machine Jorgensen. The first a well placed
shot from Pizarro's pass and the second a violent half volley after Doni had
equalised with a header. Atalanta conceded a third on the break. Muzzi ran
down the left flank and centred for Iaquinta who managed to dummy himself,
Taibi came off his line and Iaquinta seemed to go round him in slow motion
before tapping into an empty net. Muzzi muscled his way past Rustico to score
Udinese's fourth and converted a penalty to cap off a fine performance.
Attendance : 13,000
Assists : Pizarro, Zauri, Muzzi (x2), Pieri
CHIEVO 1-0 PARMA
Corradi 24
Eriberto controlled Corini's cross on his chest and centred for Corradi to
tap-in. Only a World Class display by Frey prevented Parma from getting
thrashed. Parma are just one point above the relegation zone.
Attendance : 12,850 for £115,000
Assist : Eriberto
FIORENTINA 0-2 VERONA
Oddo 43 (Pen)
Mutu 57
Oddo converted a penalty awarded for Moretti's stupid foul on Frick. Mutu
chased down a defender on the left flank before stripping him of the ball
with a slide tackle most defenders would be proud of, got up and curled the
ball inside the top corner. Almost identical to his superb strike against
Perugia.
Attendance : 13,000
Assist : Frick
PIACENZA 0-1 BRESCIA
Baggio 19
Baggio came out on top in a battle between Serie A's top strikers. Piacenza
were largely dissapointing. A perfectly placed half volley from Emanuele
Filippini's superb cross gave Baggio and Piacenza the points.
Attendance : 9,000
Assist : E Filippini
ROMA 5-1 LECCE
Totti 8, 78 (Pen) Chevanton 64
Samuel 38
Candela 70
Batistuta 86
Totti began the slaughter with a looping header. Batistuta flicked on Totti's
corner and the imperious Samuel poked the ball in at the far post. Assuncao
and Batistuta missed open goals, Totti hit the crossbar. Lecce threatened to
get back in the match when Chevanton turned and lifted the ball over
Antonioli from the edge of the box, great finish. Candela scored a superb
solo goal - dribbling past two defenders before cheekily squeezing the ball
under Chimenti. Totti made the most of a stupid challenge by Savino to win
a penalty. He sent Chimenti the wrong way. A marvellous 40yd ball released
Batistuta and he finally managed to hit the target.
Roma are not going to lose their title without a fight. Next week at home to
Lazio!
Attendance : 55,000
Assists : Candela, Batistuta, Vugrinec, Assuncao, Totti, Guigou
TORINO 1-0 PERUGIA
Ferrante 26
A fabulous free kick by Ferrante gave Torino a much needed 3 points and
plunged Perugia into the relegation zone.
Attendance : 14,700
Assist : Lucarelli
VENEZIA 0-0 LAZIO
Crespo and Nesta were back. Lazio still suck. No blame on Zaccheroni at the
moment, this season Zoff couldn't get anything out of this vastly expensive
squad either.
Attendance : 8,300 for £84,000

BOLOGNA 0-0 JUVENTUS
The only thing of note from this match was a cruciate knee ligament injury to
Salas which is expected to keep him out of action for six months. Juve are
desperatly short on strikers. If they don't enter the tranfer market soon
they are screwed. The same could be said for Bologna if the club have any
ambition.
