SERIE A ROUND 32

90 MINUTES + INJURY TIME

21 APRIL 2002

With 5 minutes to go Inter were three points away from the Scudetto.
5 minutes is a long time in football.....

BRESCIA 3-0 FIORENTINA
Toni 35
Baggio 74, 87

Toni headed in Guardiola's perfectly flighted free kick. Baggio made a fairytale
return from what some had suggested was a career ending injury mid way
through the second half and scored just 3 minutes into his comeback. With
his back to goal, he turned and volleyed Toni's deflected cross into the net and
scored a tap-in after Toni's shot had been blocked.

The whole of Italy will be pleading with Trap to take Baggio to the World Cup
unfortunately jealousy in the shape of Del Piero and Totti will keep him out.

Attendance : 15,000
Assist : Guardiola (free kick)

CHIEVO 2-2 INTER
Marazzina 42 Dalmat 46
Cossato 91 Ronaldo 60

Lupatelli made a phenomenal save to deny Il phenomenon. Corradi received
the ball from a throw-in, turned and brushed aside Cordoba with some ease
before floating a cross into the box and Marazzina rose above Seedorf (what
was he doing in defence?) to head in at the back post. Shocking defending.

Dalmat hit a stunning first time strike, bending the ball into the top corner from
Ronaldo's pass. Ronaldo was presented with an absolute gift when Lupatelli
ran out of his box to cut out Recoba's pass, he kicked fresh air, landed on his
backside and Ronaldo was left with an open goal. In the first minute of injury
time Inter's title hopes were dealt a potentially fatal blow. Corradi headed a
Corini free kick back across the box, Cossato took one touch, Toldo dived
early, and Cossato shot into the corner.

Without Materazzi Inter's defence falls apart.

Attendance : 37,000
Assists : Corradi, Ronaldo, Recoba, Corradi

LAZIO 5-4 VERONA
Stam 28 Frick 9
Lopez 32 (Pen) L Colucci 79
Stankovic 45, 51 Cossato 88
Crespo 71 Adailton 92

Crespo and Simeone started the game on the bench. Lopez started in attack.
Lopez of course missed two chances in the opening minutes before everyone's
favourite Liechtenstein international, Super Mario Frick, scored a tap-in after
Camoranesi capitalised on a slip by Couto. Frick shot against the crossbar.
Stam equalised with a superb volley(!) from Lopez's cross. Lopez blasted in
a penalty awarded for handball then laid on a third for Lazio's player of the
season, Dejan Stankovic, just before half time. Stankovic scored his second
and Lazio's fourth with an exquisite chip from 20yds. Stankovic was denied
the chance of completing a hat-trick when he was substituted for Crespo.
Stam earned a second yellow for mouthing off at the ref. Crespo headed in
Pancaro's cross, 5-1. Colucci scored what seemed to be a consolation goal
with a fine volley through a ruck of players. Cossato capitalised when
Peruzzi spilled a shot. Adailton smashed in a superb free kick as Lazio just
held on for victory.

Attendance : 32,000
Assists : Camoranesi, Lopez (x2), Liverani, Pancaro
Red Card : Stam 72 (Lazio)

MILAN 0-0 ROMA

Abbiati, who supported Inter as a child, dented Roma's hopes of regaining
their Scudetto with one un-necessarily spectacular save from a long range
Totti drive and one Scudetto busting save from a Candela free kick. Cafu and
Montella missed great chances. 18 year old Senegalese defender Adama Sarr
made his league debut for Milan in the second half. Inzaghi blew Milan's best
chances, what's new. Shevchenko continued to suck.

Attendance : 70,000

PARMA 1-1 ATALANTA
Micoud 92 Comandini 39 (Pen)

Comandini converted a penalty late in the first half. Taibi performed heroics
throughout the match but was finally beaten by Micoud from close range.

Attendance : 15,000
Assist : Comandini (penalty)

PERUGIA 1-0 BOLOGNA
Ze Maria 51 (Pen)

Sloppy handling by Pagliuca gifted Vryzas an open goal, he shot wide.
Guess which ref awarded the penalty? If you guessed Collina you guessed
right. 100% penalty though, Falcone was all over Bazzani and he was
rewarded for his persistence when he finally managed to pull him down.
Defenders can be SO stupid. Ze Maria smashed the ball past Pagliuca.
Cosmi celebrate like a maniac at the final whistle, having almost
certainly secured Serie A football next season.

Attendance : 10,000
Assist : Bazzani (penalty)

PIACENZA 0-1 JUVENTUS
							Nedved 88

This game was garbage but what a goal! Amoruso flicked on a David's long ball
and Nedved struck a fantastic left foot volley past Orlandoni.

Assist : Amoruso

TORINO 1-1 LECCE
Franco 76 Popescu 35

Popescu scored his third goal of the season with a deflected free kick.
Lucarelli helped on a long ball, Franco turned and volleyed sharply past
Chimenti. Both teams wasted late chances, Lecce are relegated.

There are some fantastic players at Lecce. Prize captures will be the
Uruguayan duo of Guillermo Giacomazzi and Ernesto Chevanton and
Croatian forward Davor Vugrinec. Chevanton could be one of the stars
of the World Cup.

Attendance : 20,000
Assist : Lucarelli

UDINESE 1-0 VENEZIA
Pizarro 31 (Pen)

Pizarro converted a penalty awarded for a foul on Warley. Udinese played
some excellent football but couldn't add a second goal.

Attendance : 13,000
Assist : Warley
