Predictably a former Milan player gave Atalanta the lead. Laursen failed to cut
out Carrera's long ball allowing Sala to smash a superb left foot strike into the
net. He was at fault for the equaliser however, missing Jose Mari's cross allowing
Shevchenko to score at the second attempt. Taibi made a fantastic save to
deny Shevchenko a second. The machine also blazed over from close range
following hesitant defending from a corner. Comandini and Doni had chances
for Atalanta.

If Doni shot instead of continually trying to win penalties Atalanta would have
walked away with three points but a fair result overall.

Jorgensen scored after a superb one touch passing between Muzzi and
Di Michele. Di Michele's final pass was an outrageous back heel, Jorgensen
feigned to shoot, Pagliuca dived, then he lifted the ball into an empty net.
One of the goals of the season.

Both 'keepers made some spectacular saves. Trezeguet had two goals disallowed
for offside. Nuno Gomes ridiculous 35yd back pass was rightfully punished by
Trezeguet. Gomes made up for his mistake when he tapped in Morfeo's centre for
the equaliser.

A minor revival for Fiorentina. Juve's defence is shocking. They can't keep relying
on Trezeguet if they are serious about challenging for the Scudetto.

INTER				3-0			VERONA

A breathtaking one touch passing move between Christian Zanetti, Ronaldo and
Guly was fittingly finished off in style, Vieri held off Seric before chipping the
ball over Ferron from close range. Ronaldo bagged two goals in five minutes
early in the second half. The first an absolutely superb header from Conceicao's
cross. Again the build-up play was tremendous. Zanetti broke from defence
and passed to Di Biagio who in turn played a one-touch one-two with Vieri
before spraying the ball wide to Conceicao with a fabulous first time pass.
Inter's third was classic Ronaldo. He brilliantly timed his run to break Verona's
offside trap, rounded Ferron and tapped into an empty net. Ron was fittingly
given a standing ovation as he left the pitch.

A great result and great football by Inter. Welcome back Ronaldo.

Bazzani knocked down a cross and Tedesco coolly flicked the ball over Chimenti.
Class finish. Chevanton banged in a penalty awarded when Conticchio went
down in the box. Di Loreto picked out Bazzani with a 40yd pass. As he ran
into the box Chimenti flew off his line and Bazzani lifted the ball into the net.
Another great finish. Conticchio punished Di Loreto's slack clearance to equalise.
A bizarre own goal gave Perugia a desperately needed three points. Cordova
blasted a shot against the underside of the crossbar, it rebounded off Chimenti's
head into the net.

Both teams created absolutely nothing. Roma's best chance came from Assuncao's
free kick but Castelazzi made a fantastic save.

TORINO				1-0			PARMA
Ferrante 46

Parma played well for the first 45 minutes then Ferrari breathed on Ferrante
in the box and he took a tumble. Frey made an awesome save from his
penalty but not for the first time his defenders were slow to react and Ferrante
smashed in the rebound. Sorrentino made a fantastic save from Di Vaio in the
second half and the striker also had a goal disallowed for offside.

VENEZIA				2-3			PIACENZA

Maniero charged down Cardone as he tried to clear De Franceschi's cross then
stuck the ball under Guardalben. Garcia's inadvertent one-two with Gautieri gave
Piacenza an equaliser. Magallanes put Venezia back in front with a bullet header
from De Franceschi's cross. Poggi equalised with a bullet header of his own and
earned the three points with a crisp first time strike from Gautieri's pass.

Maniero is a class finisher. If only he had pace.
