SERIE A ROUND 12

2 DECEMBER 2001

BOLOGNA 1-0 TORINO
Olive 5

Olive gave Bologna a perfect start by heading in Zauli's right wing cross.
Cruz, the worst forward in Serie A, shot over from 2 yards, missing another
guilt edged chance and then went looking for a penalty which seemed
like a really dumb move given he's blown his last two spot kicks. Pagliuca
could have taken the night off.

Assist : Zauli

ATALANTA 2-4 INTER
Doni 17, 22 (Pen) Di Biagio 10
							Vieri 60 (Pen), 75
							Kallon 79

Gresko's free kick managed to evade the Atalanta defence, Di Biagio cushioned
the ball on his chest and volleyed past Taibi. Atalanta equalised through
Italy's secret weapon Christian Doni. He waited for Toldo to commit himself
before slotting Colombo's clever back heel into the net. Braschi, one of the
most inept referees in Italy, awarded a penalty for a supposed hand ball by
Gresko (the ball struck his knee). Doni took about 10 short steps before
shooting past Toldo. Vieri equalised from the spot for a foul on Cordoba and
bagged a second from substitute Recoba's wicked free kick. Kallon put
Atalanta out of sight with a deflected effort.

Attendance : 25,000
Assists : Gresko, Colombo, Cordoba, Recoba

FIORENTINA 1-3 PIACENZA
Benin 77 Poggi 30 seconds
							Hubner 84
							Statuto 87

Springsteen scored one and made two in this relegation six pointer. He stole
the ball off a defender and gave Poggi a pass for a simple opener. Benin
equalised with a header from Gonzalez's free kick. Springsteen restored
Piacenza's lead with a deflected free kick and Statuto tapped in his centre
three minutes later.

Attendance : 18,000
Assists : Hubner (x2), Gonzalez
Red Card : Mora 76 (Piacenza)

LECCE 1-2 LAZIO
Cirillo 67 Crespo 59 (Pen)
							Inzaghi 61

Crespo converted a penalty and Inzaghi sort of humped Cesar's cross over the
line. Vugrinec whacked a free kick into the wall and got a second bite, this
time he chipped the ball over the wall and Cirillo scored with an outrageous
flick volley. His second goal of the season, the first was superb as well.

Attendance : 13,000
Assists : Inzaghi, Cesar, Vugrinec
Red Card : Chevanton 90 (Lecce)

MILAN 3-2 CHIEVO
Inzaghi 13 Marazzina 25
Shevchenko 58 (Pen), 65 Corradi 29

Despite being surrounded by three players Serginho flew down the left wing
before swinging a perfect cross for Inzaghi to head past Lupatelli. I wonder
how quick Serginho was earlier in his career? Chievo hit back with two quick
goals. Manfredini and Marazzina were given the freedom of the left side
(Chamot was playing at right back) and despite Abbiati's desperate attempt
to clear Marazzina coolly lifted the ball into the net. Corradi powered
Corini's corner past Abbiati for their 2nd.

The ref, Cesari, screwed Chievo out of a possible three points by dreaming up
a penalty for an apparent foul on Shevchenko who seemed equally surprised
as he lost his balance when challenging Eriberto for a cross. Shevchenko
converted and scored the winner by heading Rui Costa's superb cross inside
the post. Inzaghi was carried off with an injury.

Attendance : 60,000
Assists : Serginho, Manfredini, Corini, Shevchenko, Rui Costa

UDINESE 3-2 PARMA
Muzzi 24, 32 Di Vaio 1, 4
Jorgensen 54

Di Vaio raced onto a wonderful ball played over the top by Mboma and chipped
Turci from close range. Two minutes later another precision long ball from
Junior set Di Vaio on his way. This time he cut inside the box before
smacking the ball into the bottom corner. Di Vaio's composure in front of
goal is amazing his team-mates defending is anything but. Torrisi whacked
the ball against Pinzi his pass took a deflection off Lamouchi and Muzzi was
left with an easy chance. Muzzi then smashed a penalty past Frey and
Jorgensen scored the winner with a brilliant left foot strike.

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Mboma, Junior, Pieri

VERONA 2-0 BRESCIA
Frick 16, 46

Verona took the lead in this clash between two unlikely UEFA Cup contenders
through Sheridan's favourite player Mario Frick. Colucci met Oddo's corner
and the Liechtenstein international(!) got a touch wrong footing Pegolo.
Antonio Filippini won a penalty by throwing himself down in the box following
a sloppy challenge by Teodorani. In Baggio's absence Toni took the spot kick
but his effort was superbly saved by Pegolo. Frick doubled Verona's lead at
the start of the second half by punishing Calori's hospital pass.

Attendance : 15,300 for £129,800
Assist : Colucci

Two headed goals. Nedved with his first in a Juve shirt from Del Piero's
corner and Trezeguet from Zenoni's cross.

game.
