SERIE A ROUND 32

I have added gate receipts where available. I plan on making this a regular
feature.

27 MAY 2001

BRESCIA 2-1 VICENZA
Hubner 10 (Pen) Comotto 86
Bachini 44

As Diana chased a ball into the box Dal Canto stuck a forearm into his back,
penalty. Zauli had to be restrained by his team-mates as he confronted the
ref, Mancini would have been proud. The ref wasn't taking any shit and showed
the Vicenza captain a red card. Hubner converted. Just before half time Diana
played in Baggio who brilliantly held off Tomas and waited for support to
arrive before rolling the ball to Bachini, 2-0. Fantastic assist. Both teams
went close with free kicks. Comotto pulled a goal back late on by smashing a
loose ball past Srnicek.

Brescia secure Round A football for another season. Vicenza are in deep
trouble.

Attendance : 17,000
Red Card : Zauli 10 (Vicenza)
Assists : Diana, Baggio

FIORENTINA 1-1 ATALANTA
Nuno Gomes 13 Doni 21 (Pen)

Nuno Gomes scored with a superb header from Bressan's cross. Atalanta were
awarded a penalty when Ventola was fouled AFTER handling in the box. Doni
beat Barca bound Toldo with ease. Pelizzoli made a phenomenal save from
Chiesa's deflected free kick. Adani managed to head onto the bar when
standing on the goal-line. Pelizzoli made another miraculous save from a
deflected shot and also denied Di Livio what would have been a rare goal.
Morfeo crashed a free kick off the crossbar. Toldo left the pitch in tears.

Assists : Bressan, Ventola

INTER 1-1 LAZIO
Dalmat 92 Crespo 42

Simeone headed against the crossbar. Ballotta made a great if somewhat
unorthodox save to deny Lopez and kept out Crespo with his feet. Jugovic
hammered a shot against the crossbar following poor defending from a corner.
Crespo blew an open goal when Poborsky gave him a clear run on goal. Ballotta
made another stunning save from Simeone. Crespo finally headed Lazio into
the lead from a Veron corner. Lazio paid the price for failing to take a glut
of chances when Dalmat hit a stunning first time shot from Recoba's
free kick past Peruzzi.

Attendance : 12,917 for £125,600
Assists : Verona, Recoba

JUVENTUS 1-0 PERUGIA
Trezeguet 55

Trezeguet volleyed against the post following good work by Del Piero and
Zidane. The two 'fantasista' put together a sensational move. Zidane creamed
Liverani with a great dummy and passed to Del Piero who back heeled to
Zidane before turning his marker and running into the box, Zidane played him
in but he shot weakly at Mazzantini. It would have been an awesome goal.
Vryzas blew an opening created by Ahn and was then denied by Van der Sar's
reaction save. Trezeguet brilliantly controlled Zambrotta's cross on is chest,
flicked the ball over Materazzi and volleyed over the bar.

It was fitting that Juve were finally rewarded for such wonderful football
early in the second half. Zambrotta whipped the ball into the box and with an
outrageous first touch Trezeguet flicked the ball away from his marker and as
he turned shot into the bottom corner.

If Juve keep playing football like this should have no problem getting more
than three people to attend their matches. I would pay good money to football
like this and I never thought I would say that about Juve.

Attendance : ? for £280,000
Assist : Zambrotta

LECCE 1-2 PARMA
Viali 56 Milosevic 62
							Mboma 82

Buffon made an awesome save from Lucarelli's free kick. Lecce had penalty
appeals turned down when Cannavaro appeared to haul down Lucarelli.
A victim of his reputation (Lucarelli not Cannavaro). Micoud and Mboma blazed
over from close range. Buffon made another stunning save from Lucarelli.

Buffon was finally beaten by Viali's violent free kick. Milosevic equalised
from close range after Mboma headed on a free kick. Lucarelli was sent off
for protesting. Mboma flew in at the far post to slam in Junior's centre and
earn Parma a Champions League place and send Lecce head first into a
relegation battle.

Attendance : 22,716 for £131,000
Red Card : Lucarelli 63 (Lecce)
Assists : Conticchio, Mboma, Junior

REGGINA 1-0 BARI
Vargas 50

Vargas' deflected free kick gave Reggina a crucial victory in their battle
for Round A survival. Marrazina hammered a shot against the post. Cozza
headed over from close range.

Attendance : 23,761

ROMA 1-1 MILAN
Montella 64 Coco 46

Roma should have been awarded a penalty when Helveg yanked fellow Donkey
Delvecchio's shirt in the box but incredibly fish face didn't go down. Rossi
made an excellent save from Cafu. Horrific defending presented Shevchenko
with the ball at his feet in front of goal but he tried to centre to
Comandini instead of shooting but got nearer the corner flag than his
team-mate. In first half injury time Coco headed Milan into the lead from
Serginho's corner.

Montella came on for Delvecchio at the start of the second half and
immediately began to trouble Milan's defence. He sprung their offside trap
before volleying against the post. Rossi made a stunning save from Totti and
the Roma captain wasted a glorious opening when flashing a shot wide of goal.
Kaladze bumped Montella to the ground, Candela grabbed his shirt and pushed
him away, red card for both. Batistuta wasted Montella's fantastic cross by
heading wide. For some reason despite being surrounded by a wall of
defenders Rossi decided to step off his line as Montella ran at goal and the
diminutive striker duly punished him by lifting the ball into the net. Cesari sent
off Serginho for protesting over Maldini's yellow card (dive by Montella) and
capped off a truly inept display of refereeing that his Premiership
counterparts would have been proud of by failing to award a penalty when
Zago had his hands all over Roque Junior as he attacked a free kick and
headed against the post.

Attendance : 71,407 for £1.32 million
Red Cards : Candela 59 (Roma), Kaladze 59 (Milan), Serginho 67 (Milan)
Assist : Serginho

UDINESE 0-0 NAPOLI

Mancini returned after a long injury lay-off and made two brilliant saves
from Fiore in the first half and Muzzi in the second. He should have been
sent off for pulling Muzzi's shirt outside the box. Napoli's only chance
arrived in 2nd half injury time but Turci acrobatically saved Amauri's half
volley.

VERONA 5-4 BOLOGNA
Salvetti 3, 50 Olive 2
Adailton 37 Signori 61, 79, 90
Falcone 44 (og)
Oddo 75 (Pen)

Olive beat Ferron with a great first time shot. Salvetti scored an immediate
equaliser when he turned in Oddo's centre. Oddo is great by the way and
should never have been transferred by Milan. Adailton put Verona in the lead
with another well placed first time strike. Falcone volleyed Bonazzoli's
cross past his own 'keeper and Salvetti gave his team a three goal lead by
putting away a rebound after Pagliuca saved Adailton's weak penalty. Apolloni
appeared to be sent off for elbowing Mazzola. Signori pulled one back with
a weird but spectacular looking volley. Pagliuca got caught in possession and
Bonazzoli made sure he did enough to win a penalty. Oddo converted. Signori
scored at the second attempt from Cruz's deflected knock down and completed
his hat-trick with a great volley from Lima's cross.

Attendance : 12,939 for £104,000
Red Card : Apolloni 57 (Verona)
Assists : Cipriani, Oddo, Camoranesi, Nervo, Bonazzoli, Lima
