SERIE A ROUND 31

Some really great football this week. A noticeable improvement in the
volume of passing and movement off the ball. An encouraging sign.

20 MAY 2001

ATALANTA 1-1 REGGINA
Zauri 11 Zanchetta 16

A super opening goal for Atalanta. Morfeo returned Zauri's pass with a great
back heel and Zauri kicked the ball from under his feet into the bottom
corner. Zanchetta ran 50yds, held off Milan bound Christian Zenoni and smashed
the ball past Pelizzoli. There have been plenty of goals like that in recent
weeks. In the sixth minute of injury time Brevi hauled down Nappi in the box,
penalty. Nappi sent the ball to Taibi's left but he saved.

Attendance : 15,000
Assist : Morfeo

BARI 1-4 ROMA
Spinesi 89 Candela 29
							Batistuta 43, 88
							Cafu 70

GOAL OF THE SEASON! Assuncao missed Zebina's header but it fell for Candela,
with the outside of his right foot he flicked the ball over Andersson, flicked it up
again and then sent a half volley screaming into the top corner. Awesome,
awesome, awesome goal. Narciso did well to smother Zago's shot but the ball
fell at Batistuta's feet, 1-2. Gigou ran onto Batistuta's clever back heel,
floated a cross to the back post and Cafu headed Roma further in-front. There
was a suspicion of offside in Batistuta's second. Spinesi grabbed a
consolation goal with a sweet volley.

Attendance : 33,900
Red Card : Innocenti 31 (Bari)
Assists : Zebina, Guigou, Assuncao, Marcolini

BOLOGNA 1-4 JUVENTUS
Signori 19 Trezeguet 26, 48
							Tudor 45
							Kovacevic 81

Signori opening the scoring when he curled a beautiful low shot inside the
post. A quickly taken free kick followed by some rapid passing gave Juve
the equaliser. Zambrotta passed to Zidane he played a one two with Trezeguet
before hitting a first time pass to Del Piero, Del Piero superbly took the
ball on his chest and as he tried to work himself an opening Bia flattened
him but Trezeguet was on hand to hit to whack the ball past Pagliuca. On
the stroke of half time Tudor headed Juve into the lead.

Juve then strung together their best passing move of the season. Iuliano
carried the ball deep from defence and passed to Del Piero, he brilliantly
turned his man and sprayed the ball wide to Zambrotta, he centred and
Trezeguet beat Pagliuca at the near post. Zidane made up for a horrendous
miss by releasing Kovacevic with another superb first time pass, 1-4. It
could have easily been more but for Pagliuca.

Attendance : 37,000
Assists : Del Piero (x2), Locatelli, Del Piero, Zambrotta, Zidane

LAZIO 3-1 UDINESE
Crespo 3, 16 Fiore 73 (Pen)
Castroman 83

Poborsky saw his shot charged down and decided against a second attempt,
instead he crossed to the back post and Crespo headed Lazio in front. Another
superb ball by Poborsky released Crespo, he managed to evade Sottil's
desperate lung, went round Turci and tapped into the net. Mihajlovic
flattened Giannichedda with a Koshinaka butt attack in the box, Fiore
converted. Margiotta had a goal disallowed for no reason whatsoever. Diaz
hammered a shot against the post. Castroman sealed the points following
strong running by Simeone.

Attendance : 24,000
Assists : Poborsky, Giannichedda, Simeone

NAPOLI 2-0 VERONA
Pecchia 41
Amauri 82

Pecchia bounced Magone's pass off his chest, turned and volleyed past Ferron.
Great goal. A terrible mistake by Laursen gifted Amauri his first Round A
goal.

Attendance : 35,000
Assists : Magone, Matuzalem

PERUGIA 2-2 BRESCIA
Vryzas 59 Hubner 47, 58 (Pen)
Robbiati 86

Bachini ran into the box and took a shot, the ball missed everyone, everyone
apart from Hubner who slid in at the far post. Hubner converted a penalty
awarded for a stupid foul by Materazzi on Tare. Perugia then staged one of
their increasingly infamous comebacks. Tedesco hit a cross into the box,
Ahn missed, Vryzas stole the ball from Bonera as he was about to clear and
fired past Castellazi (on for Srnicek). He then set-up Robbiati for the
equaliser.

Attendance : 10,000
Assists : Bachini, Tare, Vryzas

VICENZA 0-0 LECCE

Sterchele made a great double save from Tonetto. Chimenti kept out Toni
and Conticchio cleared Cardone's header off the line. Chimenti made great
saves from Zauli and Jeda.

Attendance : 15,000

18 MAY 2001

MILAN 1-2 FIORENTINA
Shevchenko 29 Chiesa 11, 19

Fiorentina were awarded a penalty when Costacurta body checked Marco Rossi
outside the box. Rossi's positioning was awful and Chiesa duly punished him
whipping his free kick inside the left post. An uncharacteristic mistake by
Giunti gifted Chiesa a second. He weakly headed the ball down, presumably for
a defender only problem - no one was there and Chiesa raced clear and beat
Rossi, who was again slow off his line, with ease. Shevchenko reacted
brilliantly to steer Helveg's wild shot past Toldo. Bierhoff, on for the
disappointing Comandini, blew two 100% chances by heading over the bar.
Leonardo also went close for the home side.

Attendance : 44,699
Assists : Rossi, Helveg

PARMA 3-1 INTER
Junior 14, 88 Vieri 89
Di Vaio 74

Junior played a one-two with Milosevic before shooting past Frey. Di Vaio
controlled Benarrivo's huge pass on his chest and drilled the ball into the
bottom corner. Junior added a classy second with a rising left foot shot.
Vieri grabbed a consolation goal a minute later.

Frey has been made to look stupid in recent weeks which is no mean feat as
he's one of the best goalkeepers in the World.

Attendance : 20,407
Assists : Milosevic, Benarrivo, Di Vaio, Seedorf
