22 OCTOBER 2000

BARI 0-2 ATALANTA
							Rossini 50
							Ventola 54

Rossini headed in Zauri's corner. Rossi made a mess of Christian Zenoni's
cross allowing Ventola to score his first goal in around 18 months. Ventola
had earlier missed two glorious chances and wasted another chance to increase
Atalanta's lead. Speaking of missing, Madsen blew two penalties. He went to
Pinato's right twice and Pinato saved twice, the second a spectacular one
handed save.

Assists : Zauri
Attendance : 11,154

BRESCIA 1-1 FIORENTINA
Hubner 50 Leandro 70

Diana ran 70 yards with the ball, held off two defenders and then split the
Fiorentina defence with a superb through ball, Hubner made no mistake.
Amoroso almost snapped the post in half with a neck breaking header, the ball
rebounded to Leandro and he poked into an empty net.

Assists : Diana
Attendance : 13,000

NAPOLI 1-5 BOLOGNA
Moriero 63 Wome 4
							Baldini 24 (og)
							Signori 52, 76
							Cruz 92

Wome got Bologna off to a spectacular start with a thunderous shot from a
free kick. Coppola was slow to control a back pass under pressure from
Signori, his clearance hit Baldini, og. Amoroso hit the post. Signori latched
onto Locatelli's through ball, sent Coppola on his arse and tapped into an
empty net. Moriero headed in Sesa's free kick. Coppola then punched Signori's
cross into his own net and to prove it was no fluke he did the same with
Cruz's header.

Assists : Signori, Locatelli (x2), ?
Attendance : 50,000

ROMA 3-1 VICENZA
Totti 39 Kallon 85
Montella 79
Batistuta 86

Totti volleyed Roma into the lead, Delvecchio supplying a superb cross.
Vicenza should have been awarded a penalty for a foul on Luiso. Sterchele
saved Batistuta's fiercely struck shot, Batistuta flattened him as he got up
and Montella headed in the rebound. Antonioli gave Kallon a gift, an open
goal as he came off his line to clear Firmani's pass. Totti beautifully
pulled down Montella's cross and chipped a fabulous ball across goal for
Batistuta, 3-1.

Assists : Delvecchio, Firmani, Totti
Attendance : 59,000

REGGINA 0-1 LECCE
							Lucarelli 35 (Pen)

Lucarelli and Stovini were all over each other in the box, Stovini let go,
Lucarelli turned and then threw himself to the floor, penalty. Lucarelli sent
Taibi the wrong way. Taibi had earlier made two brilliant saves. Zanchetti
saw his fantastic volley cannon off the post. Chimenti made some excellent
saves, Da Costa missed an open goal. Tough on Reggina who deserved a point.

Assists : Lucarelli
Attendance : 23,000

VERONA 2-0 LAZIO
Favalli 53 (og)
Mutu 77

Ferron made a fantastic save with his feet to deny Simeone at point blank.
Gonello missed an open goal as the Lazio defence ball watched a cross.
Favalli scored an own goal, slicing Mutu's cross past Peruzzi. With his
confidence lifted Mutu preceded to give the Lazio defence the run-around and
made the usually infallible Nesta look ordinary. Oddo made a phenomenal
sliding tackle clearance off the line. Colucci punted a ball upfield, Mutu
ran clear and shot past Peruzzi. Ferron made another awesome save, from
Inzaghi's header. Colucci headed off the line, Lopez headed back and Salvetti
headed clear! Mazzola was harshly sent off for a late tackle. Mihajlovic
smashed a penalty against the post. Camoranesi just failed to convert Mutu's
cross.

A superb performance from Verona who have now gone 18 games without
defeat, the longest unbeaten run in Round A.

Attendance : 25,000
Assists : Colucci
Red Card : Mazzola 87 (Verona)

PERUGIA 3-1 PARMA
Bucchi 4 Micoud 79
Materazzi 11
Tedesco 19

Liverani's free kick came off the inside of a post and Bucchi headed in.
Two more Liverani set pieces gave Perugia a shock 3-0 lead. His corner
was volleyed in by Materazzi and Tedesco also scored with a volley, from
Liverani's free kick. Micoud scored what proved to be a brilliant consolation
goal.

Attendance : 8,000
Assists : Liverani (x2), Conceicao
Red Card : Milosevic 90 (Parma)

21 OCTOBER 2000

MILAN 2-2 JUVENTUS
Ambrosini 59 Trezeguet 67
Shevchenko 61 Conte 95

Inzaghi missed an open goal. Boban headed Albertini's free kick against the
post. Van der Sar made an excellent save from Coco's header from a corner
but Juve came unstuck from another set piece, Ambrosini heading in
Albertini's free kick. Two minutes later Shevchenko headed in Boban's cross
then Milan pissed the points down the toilet. Costacurta (why is he still
playing?) perfectly flicked on Zidane's cross to Trezeguet and the Frenchman
couldn't miss. Milan should have been awarded a penalty for handball by
Zanchi. Trezeguet struck the outside of a post with a fantastic volley and
Juve's pressure told deep into injury time, Conte received a pass from
Trezeguet and made Maldini look every one of his 32 years with an excellent
dummy before sweeping a shot into the bottom corner.

Three years on Zaccheroni still hasn't addressed Milan's defensive problems.

Assists : Albertini, Boban, Trezeguet
Attendance : 81,706

UDINESE 3-0 INTER
Fiore 27 (Pen)
Muzzi 62
Iaquinta 93 (Pen)

Inter were done by two hugely debateable penalties. Jorgensen was the first
to take a dive in the box, Fiore converted. Alberto fell in the box when
tussling with Cauet and was probably as surprised as anyone when the ref
awarded the penalty, this time Iaquinta converted. In between Cauet sent a
hospital pass straight to Fiore and he lashed the ball in off the post.

Assists : Jorgensen, Alberto
Attendance : 28,000
