Jeff Whitley knocked a through pass to Dickov who brilliantly beat
Southampton's offside trap by running across the line before racing forward
(hard to describe but class movement) and drilling a low shot inside the
post. Tiatto sealed victory with a superb strike from a tight angle.

Phillips had the best chance, in fact the only chance of the match. He pulled
down a ball and hammered a half volley against the crossbar.

Petrescu turned Clapham's cross into his own net and Clapham curled a low
free kick inside the post.

Svensson 68

Boro's new signing Ugo Ehiogu lasted 8 minutes into his debut. Boro created
and wasted chances. Svensson headed in Jenson's free kick.

Hasselbaink ran onto a pass and threw himself over Kirkland, Kirkland was
sent off, Hasselbaink blasted the penalty past reserve 'keeper Alan Miller.
Hasselbaink curled a low shot inside the post. Zola controlled a huge pass
from Della Bona on his chest and crashed a shot in off the post. Miller
denied Zola a second but Hasselbaink put away the loose ball. Hasselbaink
did another number on Breen to score his fourth and Flo completed the
slaughter with a header. Roussel punished a shocking mistake by De Goey as
he attempted to juggle Lebouef's back pass.

Rowett made a phenomenal clearance off the line to deny Fowler. Flowers made
several excellent saves before gifting former team-mate Emile Heskey a goal,
he came out to claim Babbel's cross but Heskey beat him to it.

David O'Leary's injury ravaged Leeds side started brightly. Bower going
agonisingly close to converting Smith's cross when unmarked in front of goal.
Beckham came on for Keane and Man United took control. Yorke headed in
Solskjaer's cross and 5 minutes into the second half Beckham's deflected free
kick ended the contest. Teenage defender Matt Jones put through his own net
under pressure from Solskjaer. Consolation for Leeds came in the shape of 21
year old 'keeper Robinson who made several excellent saves.


NEWCASTLE			0-1			EVERTON

Newcastle were left to rue several missed chances and Everton came away with
a much needed three points. Nyarko carried the ball out of defence, passed
to Naysmith and Campbell met his centre at the far post.


TOTTENHAM			3-1			DERBY

Leonhardsen opened the scoring with a fantastic shot from 30yds. Riggott
headed in Seth Johnson's free kick but Carr got Spurs back in front with another
shot from distance. Leonhardsen wrapped it up early in the second half.

Sinclair attempted to pass the ball back to his 'keeper but didn't get enough
on it and Pires volleyed past Hislop. Rio Ferdinand headed Pires' cross past
his own 'keeper. Pearce pulled one back with a free kick.
